This kitchen had a tough layout — three door openings boxing in the space and no room to breathe, let alone gather. So we made a bold move: we moved a full wall shared with the dining and living area to give the kitchen room to expand.
The payoff? A generous eat-in island for morning coffee and evening catch-ups, a proper pantry (because storage is never optional), and a fresh, elevated look that finally matches how our clients actually live.
Sometimes the best design decision isn’t a finish or a fixture, it’s knowing which wall has to stay and which one has to go.

*A long overdue introduction *

I am Sandra, founder of Couture Haus Interior Design, a full-service residential and commercial design studio in Raleigh.

My path here wasn’t a straight line. I started as an Industrial Engineer with an MBA, then went back to school for Interior Design, and this background still shapes how I work today: I approach every project with an engineer’s precision and a designer’s eye for beauty.

At Couture Haus, we believe design should be as functional as it is beautiful, tailored to how our clients actually live, not just how a room photographs.

I was born in Colombia and lived in 10 different European cities before landing in Raleigh, NC. The constant moving around turned into a real passion for travel, languages and learning from other cultures. It is this global perspective that we bring to our projects in the layouts, furniture, textiles, accessories and the small details that make a house feel like a home.

Outside of work, you will find me chipping away at my French, carving time for family, sharing a good laugh with friends, and enjoying a nice meal with a glass of w**e.

2,300 sq ft in a 55+ community, completely reimagined. We opened up the floorplan to bring in a modern kitchen with an eat-in island, carved out a proper den with a closet, and gave every room in between a fresh new look.
The spacious living area now has its own little cocktail corner, a small table and two chairs made for afternoon drinks and good conversation. Every shelf and surface is layered with art collected over a lifetime of travels, making the space feel completely, unmistakably theirs.

*Playroom Goals* Every child deserves a room that makes them scream “YES!” the second they walk in.
This empty basement in our Cary new build became a full-blown playroom adventure: 30’ feet of climbing wall packed with monkey bars, peg stones, and every grip in between. Just steps away, we carved out a cozy down-time corner wrapped in the dreamiest train wallpaper (because my favorite client loves trains) with a puzzle-and-art table and a teepee made for cuddling up with a good book.
Big energy meets quiet corners: because children need both. Happy faces are always the goal, and this one is impossible to miss!

Moody, modern, and made for lingering. This guest bathroom got a complete transformation; a sleek floating vanity, two standout geometric tiles -one grounding the floor, one wrapping the walls- and a rich, moody green color on the walls that sets the tone for the space.
The goal wasn’t just a beautiful bathroom. It was a space where your guests actually want to slow down and stay a while.
Modern doesn’t have to mean cold. Sometimes it means moody, layered, and unforgettable.

From site visits to full house remodels, this month kept us moving and we loved every minute of it. Bathrooms took shape, whole house remodels progressed room by room, and we officially wrapped our Chapel Hill project-complete! Our basement project was delivered as well, and moodboards came together for our Modern Home project as it enters its early stages.
Between site visits and spec sheets, we made sure to carve out time for what matters most too: family, rest, and a little bit of life outside the studio.
