My Culinary Adventure

Hello,

My name is Lawrence Asterilla but most of my friends call me LA “the Chef”. I’m a home cook who originally learned how to cook the old fashion way, by watching my mother and grandmother get it on in the kitchen and on the grill. I was born in Newark NJ, where mom and pop soul food restaurants reigned supreme and where an amazing amount of smells and flavors had a major effect on my palate as a young man.

Since then, I’ve lived everywhere on the east coast from Connecticut to Florida, and now call Raleigh NC my home and have for over 25 years. Needless to say, my culinary senses have been influenced along the way and you will see and taste those experiences in my cooking.

My ultimate goal is to open full service restaurants featuring elevated soul food and craft cocktails. My vision is to use responsibly sourced, sustainable and local ingredients and my mission is to apply those ideas to every aspect of my culinary adventure, starting with L. A’s Kitchen – Catering.
