Another new-to-us yarn from Magpie Fibers ! In addition to a restock of Swanky DK, we now have Quartet, which is a delightfully soft and squishy hand-dyed worsted weight yarn. Its 4 plys give a round profile, which means beautiful stitch definition. Quartet is a 100% Domestic yarn from sheep to skein and is milled for Magpie Fibers by a small, local, family owned and operated mill.

There is something about these colors! They are so rich, you need to see for yourself. Browse all of our colors in the shop and online.

Content: 100% superfine SW Merino wool
Weight: Worsted
Yardage: 210 yards/100 grams
Needle Size: US 7 - 9
Hook Size: 5.5 - 6.5mm

Care: Machine washable, though hand washing is recommended. Lay flat to dry.

We’re welcoming a new local (Delaware!) dyer to our shop, Sharnessa Scanlan

Spinners, felters, and weavers, we’ve got gorgeous colorways of Corriedale fiber braids from this local dyer in Milford. Sharnessa Johnson also known as Shar is the founder behind local cozy hand dyed yarn brand, P.S Love the Butterfly. Originally founded in Westminster, Maryland and now in Milford, Delaware, we are so happy to have her fiber in the shop!

Welcome welcome welcome Candice English to High Tide Fibers! We are so excited to stock this exceptionally special hand-dyed yarn from a Woman- and Indian American-owned business.

We’re starting off with Oh Dang!, Theresa’s personal favorite. This is a super soft lace weight suri alpaca yarn, blended with silk for strength. Oh Dang! adds a fluffy halo to what you are stitching and pairs well with lots of yarns in various weights we have in the shop. We also love to use it on its own for a feather-light garment with interesting stitch texture. Check out our pattern suggestions, like Ghost Whisperer, which will hopefully be off the needles and in the shop in the next few days.

Makers often find that suri alpaca is softer on the skin than mohair, so if you’re sensitive to mohair, this might be just the fluffy lace weight yarn you’ve been searching for! Browse all of our 16 colorways in the shop or online.

We’re excited to have this new pattern card deck in the shop and online. The Crochet Deck is from Sarah Wakeham, the popular crochet artist known as Indie Child, and includes 30 project cards that are packed with unique, whimsical, and colorful inspiration.

We have a few new books and restocks we’re excited about in the shop. And we know just the place to enjoy them.

With the unfortunate proliferation of AI-generated patterns (boooooooo!!!), maybe it’s time to get back to basics? Of course using Ravelry to find tested, tried and true patterns is always a great idea, but pattern books like these can give you a bit of inspiration and jumpstart your fall making (and mending). They make a great gift, too.

We are so excited to welcome another local dyer to the shop: Terrapin Fiberworks ! Terrapin Fiberworks offers a versatile and sustainable selection of plant-based yarns from right across the way in Maryland. Their goal is to empower you to craft a wide variety of projects, while offering fibers that meet a high sustainability standard for plant fibers.

We have Harbor DK in twelve rich colorways. Harbor DK is a cotton and linen blend that is easy on the hands and super light and soft on the skin. Check out our fav: Bethany Sunrise. Shop owner, Theresa, is using Just Peachy to work up a shawl.

Our final Learn to Knit class of the summer is this Saturday (August 8th) at 8am. It’s early, but the parking is free!

Have you always wanted to knit for yourself or others? Or maybe you learned to knit years ago and need a refresher? Taught by Randi, this is an introductory knitting class where you’ll learn all of the basic skills in one quick, but thorough, 2-hour class. You’ll learn to knit a mug mat, or several depending one how quickly you pick it up.
