Guess That Seed! 🌱 I invite you all to check out a few seeds I'm planting this week! Drop your guesses in the photo comments and I'll tell you what they are tomorrow afternoon! I have flowers, veggies and herbs happily growing under lights and I'll keep starting seeds for several more weeks. Finally getting everything in the ground and direct seeding later crops is so satisfying. Can't wait til mid May and our last frost date! Growing things from Seed is one of my great joys and there are many different ways to aid in germinating them. Some need a good long soaking, some need light, some need dark, lots prefer a warm start, but some need a cool dark place to get going. What are some of your favorite things to grow from seed?

Today is my birthday, and I am so looking forward to shaking off the chill and plunging into Spring! Lots of seeds have been started, the garden is expanding, events are booked and plenty of flowers will absolutely be in the year ahead. Kriskindlmarkt 2025 - Christmas Market was absolutely wonderful! Thank you to all who appreciated my work, shopped, talked, caught up and made the schlep. We had a great time and hope to return next year! I met so many lovely people who wound up being connected to friends I hold dear, and shared hugs with folks who moments before had been strangers. It does the heart good to spend the weekend with dozens of craftspeople, all sharing the common bond of being "makers". We saw a perfect rainbow over the city of Clifton Forge on our way in for day 2 at Clifton Forge School of the Arts - a perfect omen for the beautiful day that unfolded. I still have some local wreaths to make, reach out if you want one for yourself or a loved one, and thanks again to all for the support!

I've been busy as an elf in my little greenhouse wreath making workshop, in preparation for my first time vending at the 14th Annual Kriskindlmarkt 2025 - Christmas Market in Clifton Forge, VA. Join me the weekend before Thanksgiving for a beautiful event where you'll be sure to find so much more than my & dried flower ornaments. Please share far & wide and be sure to this holiday season, small businesses truly depend on it.
Almost every piece I make, I wish I could give away, but don't pay the bills! Help out your local Artists & Makers, it is truly quite the time to be crafting, and looking for inspiration amidst the onslaught of bad news, increased prices of everything and the terrible dark of 4pm in Appalachia, we're all doing our best out here! One of the best parts of my career in flowers is creating bouquets for people that I love, and wedding packages are at the top of that list. It was so wonderful to use the last of this season's flowers to make boutonnieres, corsages, dried flower crowns & barettes, handheld bouquets, table arrangements and ceremony decor for dear friends this past weekend! Now booking your bouquet occasions in 2026, and turning my sights to wreath season! 🍂✨️❤️

At the end of last week I had the great pleasure of creating & enjoying this large floral piece. Delivered from our home to the deck turned stage of dear friends in Lewisburg for a house concert of visiting musicians. All local, picked fresh for this unique stage adornment! It is always so nice to make pretty things for friends. ✨️

Way back in the spring Shea had an idea for me to make something a little different for Healing Appalachia this year. So I did! It was so fun to make these 100% local, whiskey barrel hoop, dried flower chandeliers & wall hangings. I made 8, 4 of each style, to go around the backstage artist area and we transported them in our lil old camper and hung them on Thursday night before enjoying a bright, dusty weekend full of music, hope and healing in the hills of East Kentucky. It has been a true joy to watch this cause and the following grow over the years. Kentucky showed up for the musical heroes of their hometowns this weekend! Truly my honor to be just a tiny part of this big, caring cause, that takes an ever growing village to accomplish. Til next time!

Stop in this Saturday & celebrate 4 years of Good Roads Bakehouse with a mini market and the best pepperoni rolls this side of the Greenbrier River! Flower bouquets by yours truly, local ceramics from Williamsburg artist Maggie Karrs and amazing bakery offerings from the inimitable Dan! Find the market in the large barn / shed beside the parking lot and all the best goodies indoors. Peruse the Good Roads Trade Post selection while you wait in line and grab some posies and pottery on your way out. Try Slow this weekend & help us celebrate 4 years of Good Roads in our community!
