One of the parts of this work I genuinely love is talking to collectors about the art.
Not the selling part — the conversation part.
What draws someone to a piece. What they want to live with and why. The moment when a collector says something that stops you mid-sentence because they’ve named something in the work you hadn’t quite found words for yourself.
Those conversations are some of the best ones I have.
What took me longer to learn was how to create the conditions for that conversation to happen — how to be present, how to talk about the work in a way that invites people in rather than keeping them at arm’s length.
The business of art doesn’t have to feel like a different person than the one who makes it.
That’s what I work on with artists in 1:1 sessions — how to show up in the business the same way you show up in the studio.
