It’s that time of year when I change my air filters and especially after this summer which had some big fires and a lot of smoke, they need it!

I’m a huge fan of the brand purifiers, because of the technology they use in air filtration.

I always encourage clients to consider air filtration after construction, because of the dust and particles that are in the air for up to 6 months afterwards. Also this time of year blesses us with the building of immune systems, such as colds, filtration is great for that as well.

These are not cheap filters so I have waited for sales throughout the years to accumulate one for every room in my house. And they are having the biggest sale I have seen yet - 30% off their purifiers and filters right now!!!

I’m not sharing this because I will get anything in return, im sharing because I’ve done the research and IMO these are some of the best out there.

Winter solstice, Christmas, snow, Mother Mary, Rose of crucians, Saturnalia, Jesus, Santa, Kwanza. There are so many perspectives around this time of year. What does it all mean? Perhaps an opportunity to just feel something different, a pause in the regular schedule, gratitude for what this earth provides us. With cozy comforts and warm drinks, reaching for one another, marveling at the effort eachother puts forward to celebrate. Feeling closer with a stranger because we are both feeling jolly. That’s the stuff. Warmer, kinder, reverence, sharing, gratitude and oh so cozy.

This bedroom brings back summer vibes which may be the equivalent of listening to Christmas music in August!

Sometimes I get to update my previous work. This bedroom was once designed for a teenager who has since flown the coop and created his own nest. Now guests have the luxury of staying here, and in the summer when the fountains are on and the pool is turquoise, it’s a slice of heaven to sip a coffee out on the balcony. 5 🌟

I’m often faced with the adage of function vs form when working with clients. Things don’t have to be beautiful to be functional, but when something brings you joy and inspiration then, yes its totally worth the extra money to invest in beautiful, unique, and special spaces. It supports all of the artists and artisans that had a dream when they created the fixtures/ finishes/ artwork. It also brings others joy when it’s shared.

I’m always going to encourage functional spaces but it’s my pleasure, joy, livelihood to play with form!

Last week I had the honor of hosting a delightful Friends-Giving, or as I like to call it Thanks Living!

I looked up each guest’s birthday in my ColorStrology book, where each person has a specific color on their birthday along with some insight into their nature. I color matched these with paint chips and used them as place cards with their names and traits derived from the book.

We started by reading our cards and sharing our colors. We did this while we drank a Brain Stabilizer shot from Medical Medium– this was to increase intuition and wisdom. Then we slipped into a meditation where we journeyed through the state of being that we wanted to call in during the months to come. Instead of manifesting things we called in the feelings that we wanted to uphold. We locked this affirmation in with our unique colors. And I hope that when each of us notices our colors in the world it will bring us back to the stillness that we shared that evening and the manifested feelings we summoned in.

We then shared a lovely vegan meal together and finished it off with some vegan gluten free pumpkin pie! The vegan menu included stuffed acorn squash, shepherd’s pie, beat and “feta” salad, Waldorf salad, and homemade gluten free dinner rolls which were delish. And wait until you get a look at the vegan charcuterie board that I put together!

In honor of the sense of intensity emphasized by the lunar eclipse earlier this month, I thought I’d drop these here..

Some might say we are in the crucible of change.

I invite you to take a step back from the day to day with me and look at our old programs, you know the obligatory reactions that fly out of our mouths or rattle around in our heads, and lets just let go of them.

Imagine them dissolving or burning in this malachite fireplace.

Lets make some room for better feelings.

Lets Focus on stillness.

Anytime the old programs sneak in, let’s just get back to this fireplace and regain our focus on stillness. And reach for a different state of being, perhaps peace and gratitude.

This is a parody of my life for the last 7 days, while my daughter has been really sick. Well let’s be honest, since she started kindergarten aka the pitri dish. I have had numerous days upon days stringing together which were reminiscent of another time in my life. I found myself pulling on those parts of myself that I had carved out from my party days, where I was able to somewhat function on little to no sleep. It’s been kind of like I’m in a dream only this go around there is no lingering hangover and my feet aren’t pounding from dancing in heels. Who can relate?

But seriously this apothecary closet has saved me so many times. I have spent countless hours researching herbs and homeopathic medicine and trying to avoid unnecessary ingredients that is commonly put into medicine. It’s really nice to stumble to the closet in a walking dreamstate and grab the bins that match her symptoms and build my tray that I will be carrying around from sofa to sofa to bed to steam shower.

Building an immune system is no joke. It’s not just what we do when they get sick / detox, which is a normal reaction and how they build a robust system, but I also have a huge array of herbs and minerals and vitamins in the kitchen that we each take daily, well let’s be honest, when I can remember. It’s exhausting doing all this alone, and running a business. I have to be nicer to myself when I forget.

Samples and swatches are where a project starts to take form. There are so many considerations when selecting finishes. The durability and the relationship between the patterns and colors. These layouts morph over time. I select, layout, reselect and layout, close my eyes and journey to the space and imagine what each item will look like. I also render the spaces to help visualize scale. And then I fine tune areas, searching for the best of both worlds, form and funtion!

Sometimes we forget that we have a choice in our perception of this thing called life. We can feel like we are being raked across hot coals or we can stand up and do some accounting and then dig deep and ask ourselves what we really want.

I have been feeling this energy so much lately in my own bubble. Remembering also that trying not to “fix” everything but just being in my creation and finding peace within it, paying attention to signs and making decisions from a calm and balanced place, all the while dreaming and reaching for precisely what I want.

These clients are very active and while they work their bodies hard it was important to create a space that also maintenanced their bodies. so I chose to do chromotherapy in this shower, keeping the majority of the walls white and offering warm accents to reflect the color saturation accurately for the body. It is said that Red can boost blood circulation throughout the body. Couple that with some Ylang Ylang in the steam shower and this could be the beginning of a great date night. Just saying.

Update on 'the house that handed out organic apples' 🍎 for Halloween... it was a success! Everyone was so gracious. I went through 6 bags of apples!! And I was told another house was handing out oranges 🍊. We even saw proof that the apples were being eaten, we spotted an apple core along our walk in the neighborhood!!

We hosted a pre trick or treat party and had so much fun walking through the neighborhood with friends, cocktails, wagons, and soo many belly laughs.
