Clay Atelier Clay Atelier is a Potter's workshop and gallery. Clay Atelier is a Clay workshop/studio/gallery. My work is hand-built with soft slab clay. Arlene

I begin with a rolled, flat piece of clay and then mold it into the shape I'm looking for. The clay is soft and I can bend it, twist, dart, texture, with so many variations to try. Clay is always new, and takes me in interesting directions, to my delight. My work ends up being eclectic as I enjoy trying new shapes and techniques. The gallery evolved as an extension of meeting great local artists a

nd an interest in showcasing that art. The Studio has two Art Sales each year with different featured artists along with my pottery. We are also starting pottery classes because pottery is too much fun to keep to myself. Please feel free to contact me and stop on by.

These are lidded canisters. I start with the process of creating a fl**ge and a close fitting lid, followed by a underglaze transfer for the design. The underglaze transfer takes a bit of patience to get the right transfer onto the green ware, but the results are so rewarding. I glazed the sheep with a clear glaze and the “splatters” with one of my scrap glazes. Scrap glazes are glazes that are a mixture of all the glazes I have saved from my spray booth from previous glazing.
