Today I wanted to share with you guys my vinyl contact paper kitchen counter transformation. This project is an easy and very affordable option for ugly countertops. With many different styles to chose from, your countertops can look exactly like your dreams for super cheap.

Obviously, this method to countertop transformation is not a permanent solution, but with easy removal - this method can be used over and over to replace ripped, torn or stained pieces you will most certainly encounter. This is my temporary fix for my countertops, as I do plan on doing marble epoxy in the coming months.

For this project you will need to measure the square footage of your countertops and order these essential items:

1. Contact paper - I used a company called “livelynine” I found on Amazon.

2. Silicone - also available on Amazon or your local hardware store.

3. Industrial stapler and staples

4. Plastic scrapper knife ( I recommend a pack of about 3 different sizes).

5. Spray bottle

Instructions:

First remove any silicone from around your sinks. Silicone should easily come up with just a little pressure and knife.

Measure countertops by turning over your contact paper and leaving approximately 1.5 to 2 inches on both sides to ensure you have enough to tuck under the countertops and staple.

Spray surface of countertop with water from your spray bottle (I know this sounds weird, but trust me it works). If you notice your paper is uneven you can easily pull up and redo it. The glue can get wet and will dry just as it would have without being exposed to water.

Using your scrapping knife, start at one side and pull the paper from underneath away as you scrape flat. Once you’re done tuck underneath and staple with your staple gun. If you have staples that don’t go in well, you can use a hammer to pound in the staples.

Be sure to tuck in your paper around your sinks and faucets. Using your silicone, seal around the edges for a seamless look.

That’s it guys! Super easy, super affordable and you’ll be shocked at the results you can achieve!

Total Cost: $70!

I have stared at this ugly mirror in my walk-in-closet for months trying to figure out how to make it look well enough to keep. I liked the shape of the mirror and the location it is in, so I didn’t wanna have to remove it.

With the odd shape, building a wood frame just wouldn’t solve the problem. I finally decided to try a decorative ribbon I found on Amazon for $9.
I just hot glued the ribbon directly onto the mirror and Boom! It looks so pretty, and covered up the deterioration around the edges.

Simple and cheap solution if you have one of these builder grade mirrors in your home you’d like to spruce up. 💕👌🏻

I found this old plant shelf in my shed outside left by the former owners. I sanded it down, spray painted the frame green, and sprayed the inserts an eye catching gold.

This little treasure made a perfect coffee bar for my dining room/foyer. ❤️👌🏻☕️

Our master bath transformation is finally complete!

I painted the cabinets with Annie Sloan’s Amsterdam Green and sealed them with both clear and dark waxes. I added brass pull handles and k***s, and replaced the vanity lights. I also transformed the ugly countertops with epoxy to mimic black marble.

This master bath has been a work in progress for nearly a year now. Little by little, I have DIY’d my way to the glamorous tropical oasis I was going for.

Needing help with redecorating your space?

Most people I talk with don’t have a clue where to start when taking the first step to remodel or redecorate their home.

The first step to any home project, is to first identify your style. This is why I have put together some images to help do just that. The process is simple, pick an image that appeals to you most. This is a great first step in personalizing your own style, and knowing where to start when customizing your home to fit your personality.

This old wood writing desk got a facelift with Annie Sloan’s Napoleonic blue and some fancy new k***s. I love transforming old furniture to fit whatever style and look I’m going for.

This electric blue really pops against this monochromatic background. 💕👌🏻
