When hundreds of people have shared so many wonderful memories of this man, across multiple platforms and posts, you know we truly lost a local legend. Eddie Slipek was an icon and steward of Richmond history, and is the reason that I fell in love with my home city. I took his Richmond Architecture class twice -- once before architecture school, and once again after. He was always so enjoyable to listen to, and to have conversations with. This portrait of him is in photographer John Henley's recent "Artists" book.

Listing some social media accounts that I've seen him mentioned in case you want to dig around and read what people are sharing:

Process leads to final concept. An architectural study for the Serendipity Arts Live Museum (The Brij) in New Delhi, India. Conceptually, it's a monolithic stone vessel that represents the culture and fabric of the local landscape. The complex facade is a veil comprised of 21,273 stone blocks wrapping around a tapered ellipse. Each block is uniquely rotated in place, allowing for views and daylight access.

Project collaboration with William McDonough + Partners, facade design and visualization by MWDC.

More early facade studies for the Serendipity Arts Live Museum (The Brij) in New Delhi, India. Monolithic vernacular stone vessel form, exoskeleton post + beam expression vs concealed structure with stone screen. The stone screen is either cut away, dissolved, or rotated for views and daylight access. Lots of fun exploring these ideas!
