Oh, Houston Rodeo. You’ll always have a piece of my 🫶🏼. Who knew I’d be a bull & bronco rider, barrel racer, mutton bustin’ fan?

And Creed? I didn’t expect the sermon & inspirational speeches, but it seems their fans did! The music was good and so fun to sing along with. It was a great night doing what some many Houstonians do every March!

In our days since closing the shop, I’ve been thinking a lot about what inspires me. Traveling and touring is one of the ways I find inspiration. I see spaces & places through a completely different lens now and I’m loving how it’s grown me. On a recent trip to Los Angeles, we toured The Gamble House in Pasadena. This sprawling beauty was built in 1908 for the 2nd generation Gamble family, of Proctor & Gamble and designed by Green & Green.

The pictures posted here are the kitchen & butlers pantry of the home. There is a secret doorway in the kitchen that cut through the home to shorten the passage to the front door. The intercom system was state of the art for its time and was housed in the space, as well.
The green and white tiles are not original, but they are made by the same tile company the originals were, by the same mold the company still had!

The house is also in the movies as being the home of a certain time traveling Doc. Name that movie in the comments!

Yes, it’s time for another Repotting Workshop! This is a great way to learn when your plants are ready to size up to a bigger pot (yes, we’ll have a great assortment for you to choose from!) and make sure they are getting a good soil and a dose of nutrients (we’ll have those, too!) as they start waking up from a long winter’s nap.

This is an open-house style workshop, so bring those plants anytime during business hours (10am-4pm) and we’ll work together to get you everything your plants need to thrive this season.

One of our favorite projects last year was working on this dining room. The clients use this room for everyday meals to entertaining family & guests. The idea was to make it match the rest of the home by elevating the details. We added this vining botanical wallpaper, played with color and mimicked the botanicals in the pinch-pleat drapes, and painted the ceiling a fun, moody color. Added a few new products and, voila!

We love all the fine tuning of this project, but it’s the ceiling that we love the most!! Ok, wait, it’s the wallpaper. No, the drapes. Ugh… we can’t decide!
