Most of the time I have no idea what I’m doing with this side quest of making things. If nothing else maybe to just share experiences or maybe obstacles and how I face them or maybe just to shine a bit of light. I have no idea, but often times it seems like people listen and even like what I say here and there. My disdain for social media is no secret. Ironic to read that here I know, but I have always tried to introduce things in my life to replace it. I believe true progress starts with replacement. Replace the uselessness with usefulness. Replace the useless things with useful things. That’s why I read. And study. And learn new things. Whether it be a book by my favorite Christian author or most recently 12 rules for life, I have tried to cut out the useless garbage and introduce things that could excel progress. Or even simply peace. Recently I started studying chess. Maybe about a month now. This introduction has completely eliminated mindless scrolling. I get up, play chess, get ready, maybe play chess again, and find little pockets to play throughout the day. (My chess time is still a fraction of any of my social media time ever was). I’ve seen serious progression in the game and in life. I have a lot of things going on, but now I will tell myself to “strategically layout my tasks/day/week” like a game of chess. So much in life can be compared to this game. Oh. Also here’s a chess board I made. I did not make the pieces. 🙂
