Cabbage Roll Recipe
5lbs of ground chuck(ground meat doesn’t yield as much meat)
5 cups of uncooked rice
2 large yellow onions(diced small)
2 table spoons minced garlic
2 Bell Peppers (diced small)
4 cans of Rotel
1 square box of chicken broth(stock)
2 large heads of cabbage
2 sticks of real butter
2 to 3 cups of shredded cheese(any kind)
1/2 cup of Slap Your Mama
Take cabbage and cut off the base. Soak in hot water in sink to make leaves soft and easy to roll. While cabbage is soaking prepare mixture. In large mixing bowl, add meat, two cans of Rotel, onions, bell peppers, garlic and seasoning, add rice slowly.(u may or may not need all 5 cups).
Mix throughly making sure sure rice isn’t clunked up together, if mixture seems a little dry add about 1/2 cup of chicken broth.
Start unrolling cabbage leaf by leaf. Place small portion with spoon on each leaf. Roll and place in large pot. Once bottom layer is done, pour about 1/4 can of rotel over layer. Keep stacking rolls. Between each layer pour a little rotel. Once all rolls are done, pour remaining rotel over top layer. It’s one cup of rice to one cup of either chicken stock or water. Then add one more cup. Put both blocks of butter on top. Bring to a boil and boil almost all the juice out(just like cooking rice on a stove top), put on low heat and cover for approximately 20 to 25 minutes. Take one roll out and check to see if rice is completely cooked. If not add about a cup of water cover and cook for another 15 minutes.
