Sometimes all you need is a LITTLE Jesus!

This past weekend at the craft show, I expected people to notice the large crosses, custom engraving, and woodworking projects.

Instead, these LITTLE Jesus pieces kept drawing people in.

Folks stopped to read them. They pointed them out to friends. Some even came looking for them because someone else had already told them about them.

That got me thinking...

Maybe we all need a simple reminder that Jesus is present in the middle of everyday life—on a desk, a shelf, a workbench, or a kitchen counter.

What started as a simple idea has become one of my favorite projects because of the conversations it creates and the smiles it brings.

Thank You!

As we wrap up Baldwin Windmill Days, I simply want to say thank you to everyone who stopped by the Old Rev Creations booth this weekend.

Whether you made a purchase, picked up a card, shared an idea for a custom project, or just stopped to visit for a few minutes, I appreciate every conversation and every connection.

This weekend was especially meaningful as we introduced the first pieces in the new LITTLE Jesus Series. Seeing so many smiles, hearing your stories, and watching people share the message with others was both humbling and encouraging.

One of the greatest blessings of events like this isn't simply selling handcrafted items—it's meeting people, hearing their stories, and creating pieces that have meaning in their homes, churches, and lives.

Thank you for supporting a small business, a local craftsman, and the vision behind Old Rev Creations.

I'm excited about what's coming next, and I look forward to creating more custom pieces, gifts, portraits, crosses, and faith-inspired artwork for all of you.

Sometimes people ask me how being a pastor and a woodworker fit together.

Honestly, they're not all that different.

When I work with a piece of wood, it's rarely about forcing it into what I want it to be. It's about seeing what it can become. Sometimes that means cutting. Sometimes sanding. Sometimes mending cracks. Sometimes simply spending enough time with it to understand its story.

People are much the same.

As a pastor, I meet people in all kinds of seasons—joyful, broken, hopeful, uncertain, polished, and rough around the edges. My calling isn't to remake them in my image. It's to help them discover who God created them to be.

Whether I'm behind a pulpit or behind a workbench, the work feels remarkably similar.

Patient.
Intentional.
Sometimes messy.
Always hopeful.

And maybe that's because God is still working on all of us.

🌾 GRAIN OF TRUTH – WEEK 2 🌾

Last week, Kathy Vandre looked at a simple piece of wood and saw something hidden inside it.

Her idea became Christ Walking on the Water at Sunset—a reminder that every board has a story waiting to be discovered.

Now it's time for Week 2.

“The Grain of Truth” — Week 1 Result

This week’s featured piece was inspired by an idea from Kathy Vandre — Christ walking on the water at sunset.

One thing I love about woodworking is how the grain itself becomes part of the story. Every board carries its own character, texture, and truth.

Thank you, Kathy, for inspiring the very first Grain of Truth piece!

🪵 Woodworker Logic 🪵

Normal people:
“We should probably throw this scrap away.”

Woodworkers:
“ABSOLUTELY NOT. That oddly shaped 4-inch piece might become something important someday.”

Meanwhile the shop somehow ends up with:
• 47 clamps
• 312 “important” scrap pieces
• enough sawdust to build another board
• and one tape measure that keeps disappearing 😄

Tell me I’m not the only one…

🌲 THE "GRAIN" OF TRUTH 🌲

Sometimes the most overlooked pieces hold the deepest stories.

This little scrap (8"x9") came from a previous Old Rev project, and somewhere inside the grain, knots, lines, and imperfections… there’s something waiting to be seen.

So here’s this week’s challenge:
