Thalia is the type of person that would stop anything to help someone in need. She is the type of person that always tries to do the right thing. She is in need of help and as her little sister, I know she would never ask for it.
Thalia had surgery on 5/15. Over the next two weeks, she was in agony and found herself in emergency, but her pain and concern was dismissed. On 5/23 she had to put to sleep her loving kitty companion of 17 years, ‘Pumpkin’ unexpectedly and traumatically.
Due to severe pain, the inability to hold down any fluids or food she found herself back in the hospital, but this time she was admitted on 5/30 urgently. She needed emergency surgery to place a drain to remove the life threatening infection that was festering inside her. She is already a week past her expected return to work date with no known idea of when she will be able to return. She is awaiting results to see if a third surgery will be needed. I am trying to raise enough funds for her to cover June’s bills (rent, utilities etc.) Any help for her is appreciated more than you could ever imagine. She’s the type of person that would do it for you.

HIs final message:

“If you’re reading this, it means I have been killed - most likely targeted - by the Israeli occupation forces. When this all began, I was only 21 years old - a college student with dreams like anyone else. For past 18 months, I have dedicated every moment of my life to my people. I documented the horrors in northern Gaza minute by minute, determine to show the world the truth they tried to bury. I slept on pavements, in schools, in tents - anywhere I could. Each day was a battle for survival. I endured hunger for months, yet I never left my people’s side.

By God, I fulfilled my duty as a journalist. I risked everything to report the truth, and now, I am finally at rest - something I haven’t known in the past 18 months. I did all this because I believe in the Palestinian cause. I believe this land is ours, and it has been the highest honor of my life to die defending it and serving its people.

I ask you now: do not stop speaking about Gaza. Do not let the world look away. Keep fighting, keep telling our stories - until Palestine is free.”

-For the last time, Hossam Shabat, from northern Gaza.

Tuesday March 11th, 5:30-7:30
South Wedge Mission
125 Caroline St. (at Mt. Vernon Ave.)

We will prepare for the parade Saturday, and discuss the ongoing Saturday protests coming up! Time change to 3 pm!
Bring your ideas for pop up locations all around the City.
We will discuss how we will communicate location info each week. We’d like various Rochester demographics to think about what we’re saying, and how it relates to the current repression, deportations and takeover in the US.

Casual potluck, bring something to share if possible🙂.

Join us Saturday at 2 pm for our 11th protest (at L3 Harris) of the Israeli war on Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank- dangerously supported by our new “King.”
Meltem, the ever intrepid local videographer/photographer (who we love and respect) will introduce Sami Madhoun, a 17 year old our player from North Gaza…who lifts the spirits of his neighbors with his playing, and helps to facilitate the delivery of water and food.

SPEAK UP FOR PALESTINE, Protest #8. Saturdays 2 pm - at L3 Harris, 1680 University Avenue in Rochester, NY.
We continue to raise our voices on behalf of Palestinians in Gaza and in the West Bank. We are moved to see so many in Gaza returning to their land, and at the same time we see the escalation of violence in the West Bank. We introduce the front line mutual aid organization in North Gaza this week, who are working together with water protectors in the US: Please support their work!

SPEAK UP FOR PALESTINE, Protest #5. Saturdays 2 pm - at L3 Harris, 1680 University Avenue in Rochester, NY.
Each week we will spotlight an organization working to provide aid to the people in Gaza. This week we introduce the *Refaat Alareer Camp,* providing shelter and specialized support to some of the most vulnerable displaced families in Gaza. The Camp is part of The Sameer Project , “A donations based aid initiative, led by Palestinians in the diaspora, working to supply emergency shelter and aid to displaced families in Gaza.” Honored to name their first camp after the brilliant Refaat Alareer (the Poet who wrote the famous poem “If I must die… you must live..”) and who “believed in the future of Gaza, and fostered that future by giving the necessary tools to the younger generation to preserve the culture, heritage and frankly to survive under the constant threat of the occupation.”
