One of our customers, but really, so much more than that, passed away this past month, and I’ve been thinking about her a lot.
Her name was always on my live videos. She was usually one of the first to say good morning. I knew she was going to be there. She supported this store so wholeheartedly, and over time, she became a friend.
And it really hit me this week when I realized I’m not going to see her name pop up anymore. Or see her walk through the doors.
And that’s been incredibly sobering, because life is short. And sometimes it takes something like this to pull you out of the everyday rush and remind you of that.
We spend so much of our time worrying about what needs to happen next. The next shipment, the next post, the next live, the next event, the next thing on the to-do list.
And in the middle of all of that, there are people.
Real people who walk through our doors. People who become familiar faces. People whose names we recognize. People we talk to and laugh with and, sometimes, become friends with.
And that’s what this store has always been about for me. It’s not really about the clothes or the décor.
Those things are really just the vessel for something that means so much more to me: community. There’s something really special about the relationships that grow in a place like this, and I think that’s what makes this store so special.
She was part of that. And I’m so grateful she was.
I’m grateful for every “good morning.” Every comment on my lives. Every visit. Every conversation.
I wish we could keep all of those little moments forever.
But we can’t.
And maybe that’s the part of this that I needed to be reminded of most: To appreciate them while we have them.
So today, I’m just feeling really grateful that she was here. Grateful that she loved this little store of ours. Grateful that she became a friend. And really grateful that I got to know her at all. 🤎
