Even the most beautiful pieces can fall flat if the foundation isn’t right. These are the top 3 design slip-ups I see all the time, and how to avoid them. If you get these right, the rest tends to fall into place. 🙌

1. Poor Space Planning
Furniture that’s too big, too small, or just... floating in the wrong spot? Total vibe killer. Start with a layout that flows and fits the room’s function.

2. Ignoring Lighting
Lighting makes or breaks a space. Layer it—natural light, overheads, sconces, and lamps—for warmth, depth, and dimension.

3. Overcrowding with Accessories
Curated > cluttered. Let your favorite pieces shine by giving them room to breathe. Edit, simplify, and let your space tell one clear story.

A well-styled coffee table just feels right when it’s the right size and has the right mix.
Here’s what I always consider when pulling one together:

1️⃣ It should ground the seating area
2️⃣ It should add practical function
3️⃣ It should make a visual statement

Scale matters. Look for one that’s around 2/3 the length of your sofa and low enough to keep the conversation flowing (visually and literally). If it's too small and it gets lost. If it's too tall, it throws off the whole vibe.

When it comes to styling:
– Anchor it with a tray or books
– Layer in something useful (think candle, bowl, or coasters)
– Add one piece that brings personality—a sculptural object, greenery, or something meaningful
