Saving Poppy seeds for next spring 💛

Pumpkin season is almost here! We are giving the pumpkins a go this year, hopefully we will have lots to share 🧡

Did you know it’s SO easy to save pumpkin seeds?! I sure didn’t. We purchased all sorts of wonky, abnormal pumpkins last year for autumn events, so I thought “I’m going to try to save the seed from these and grow them next year.” Well, it was a success!

If you want to give it a go, here’s what I did;

- Throw all the pumpkin guts in a large bucket of water for about 30-60min.
- Swish it around for a bit to separate all the flesh from the seeds.
- ‘Winnow’ the seeds by slowly pouring out the water out of the bucket. All of the guts should pour out with the water, leaving the viable pumpkin seeds at the bottom of the bucket.
- Toss seeds in a strainer and give them a good rinse.
- Pat dry with a paper towel.
- Let air dry for at least a week by spreading out on a cookie cooling sheet, or something breathable. If the holes are too big for the seeds, I laid down a piece of parchment down on top of the cooling rack.
- Store in a paper bag someplace cool & dry.
- You have pumpkin seeds!

Organizing all my dried floral inventory for some fun projects this fall 🍂

I don’t bleach my dried foliage, instead I’ve found simply hanging them out in direct sunlight or a bright window does the job, and looks much more natural 💛
