New padding for a client down town. 17’ x 36’ ! Took pretty much a whole roll.
This is what the old style pad looks like if you wait too long to change it out. The old pad used Laytex Rubber on the back.. after about 5 years it starts drying out or cureing… then it starts turning to a powdery mess underneath. The powder is actually the filler used with the rubber… diatomaceous soil.
The new style pads we use don’t use the rubber, they use a closed cell polypropylene bonded to the back of the felt. We have been using this for about 9 years now and I haven’t seen any go bad yet.
The good thing for the customer is they don’t have to replace their pads every 5 years… the bad thing for us is I don’t get to sell them new pads every 5 years… but I can wash this pad if it needs it!
We can custom cut and bring you new pads… and or provide new pads when we are washing your rugs. Give us a call!

A cute little Tree of Life Laver Kerman. 3.5 x 4.9. Circa 1900-1910. Classical Tree of life design and in what I would call a Meditation rug as opposed to a Prayer rug… or as my Dad (Jimmy) would say, “A Harvey Wall Hanger”… and yes, I would put this on a wall… I was thinking about that as I was filming… maybe it will end up at my house someday.
If you like this style/type of rug, I can find something for you… In the meantime , enjoy looking at this one.

Here is a customer’s carpet. A early 1920’s “Lavar” Kerman approximately 11 x 19. We have been washing this carpet for probably 50 years… it is now moving onto the next generation.
This is a very pretty Kerman that has that “Roaring 20’s” feel to it. You can mix and match styles and periods… from early American to Mid century modern and full on Contemporary. Just use you imagination… or borrow someone else’s imagination.

Here’s one from last year. Great looking rug. This was labeled as a Manchester Kashan, but looking at it it was actually a very fine Mashad with Manchester Wool… and was “Painted” so most likely imported in the 1920’s. I don’t have this one anymore, but I should be able to find similar pieces.

Antique Manchester Kashan Rugs Historically, “Manchester wool” refers to a legendary type of exceptionally soft, luminous Merino wool that was spun in Manchester, England, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This premium wool was exported to Persia (specifically Kashan), where master weavers used it to create incredibly fine, velvety hand-knotted rugs. These antique carpets look and feel almost like silk due to their natural sheen and high knot density.

Here’s an oldie! When I was playing around with funny intro’s. Some liked them, some didn’t.
These were photos of me at the Plant running a urine soaked rug through the wringer.
