Ingredients:
1 pound ziti pasta
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
2 cups ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh basil for garnish
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook ziti pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and sauté until onion is translucent and beef is fully cooked. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Stir in marinara and tomato sauces. Simmer for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper.
In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce. Add half of the cooked ziti, then spread half of the ricotta mixture on top. Add more meat sauce, then repeat with the remaining ziti, ricotta mixture, and meat sauce.
Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
