Our roots go back to the 1930s in Rome, Georgia, where Sanford Mattress Company was founded on the simple belief that well-made mattresses help people live better. That belief was carried forward in 1973 when Terry and Glenda Spears; Mr. Sanford’s son-in-law and daughter, started The Spears Mattress Company, continuing the tradition of honest craftsmanship and hard work. In 1986, the family became the original licensee of Englander Sleep products, and with Terry and his two brothers at the helm, the company continued to grow. During the 1980s, the next generation stepped in as daughters Robin and Kristi joined the business, alongside their husbands Barry Simpson and Frankie Beck. Together, the family helped build what became the largest independent mattress manufacturer in the Southeast. After selling the company in 2008, Terry and Glenda retired, but the passion for mattresses never left. In 2015, the family returned to what they love most, forming Heritage Sleep Concepts, LLC. Partnering with Eastman House and Eclipse, Heritage Sleep began manufacturing these iconic brands for five Southeastern states, bringing together skilled craftsmen and decades of experience. Today, Heritage Sleep Concepts is proud to blend time-honored craftsmanship with modern comfort. As Terry Spears says, “We see a big opportunity to bring the heritage of quality and value through skilled manufacturing to independent dealers and the customers they serve.”
That’s who we are; family-founded, craftsmanship-driven, and committed to helping people sleep better, night after night.
