Fun fact: if your DFW home was built before 1973, there's a real chance the wiring inside your walls is aluminum. Not copper. Aluminum.
Back in the late '60s and early '70s, aluminum wiring was standard in a lot of Rowlett, Garland, and Plano homes — copper was expensive and aluminum was cheap. It's not automatically a crisis, but it does behave differently than copper at the connections, and over time those connections can loosen. We run into this regularly in older East DFW neighborhoods. Worth knowing if you're buying, selling, or just curious about your house.

Before → After. This panel was tripping breakers every other week. Now it doesn't.
The homeowner had been resetting the same breaker for two years. Thought it was the appliance. Turned out the breaker itself was worn out and the panel was running out of capacity — a story we hear constantly in older DFW neighborhoods. We pulled the old panel, put in a clean 200A service, and that breaker hasn't tripped since. Sometimes the "electrical problem" is actually a panel problem in disguise.

Which would you choose — keep resetting that breaker, or fix it once? 👇

That warm switch plate isn't "just the way old houses are." It's a warning.
A switch plate that's warm to the touch, a burning smell near an outlet, sparking when you plug something in — these aren't quirks of an older home. They're signs that something is actively wrong inside your wall. We see this in Rowlett, Garland, and Sachse all the time, especially in homes built before 1985. The fix is usually straightforward. The risk of waiting is not.

Share this with someone whose house was built before 1980 — they need to see it.

Your lights dim every time the AC kicks on. Your breaker trips for "no reason." Your outlet just… stopped working. Sound familiar?
Most homeowners in Rowlett and across DFW have had at least one of these moments — and most of them wait way too long to call. Here's the thing: electrical problems in North Texas don't fix themselves. The summer heat alone can push a marginal connection right over the edge. We're based right here in Rowlett, and we diagnose the real cause — not just reset the breaker and hope for the best.

DFW storm season doesn't care that your power just went out. ⛈️
We've been in houses after bad storms where the fridge is warm, the phones are dead, and the family is sitting in the dark wondering what to do next. A generator inlet and interlock kit changes all of that. You plug in your portable generator outside, flip the interlock, and your essential circuits come back on — safely, legally, and without backfeeding the grid. It's one of the smartest half-day jobs we do.

Hardwired or NEMA 14-50 outlet — which would YOU choose for your garage? 🤔
This is the question we get on almost every EV charger job. Hardwired means it's direct to the breaker — cleaner look, higher amperage, no plug dangling off the wall. NEMA 14-50 means it's a plug-in outlet — easier to swap chargers later if you switch brands. Both work. The right answer depends on your panel layout, your charger, and how long you plan to stay in the house. We'll tell you which fits your setup.

Which would you choose — hardwired or plug-in? 👇 Tell us below.

Your panel is the reason your EV charger might not work. Here's what to look for. 👇
We get calls every week from homeowners who bought a Level 2 charger and then found out their panel was maxed out. A 100-amp panel in a house built before 1990 is already working hard. Add a 40-amp EV circuit on top of that and you've got a problem. We assess capacity first, quote the circuit — and if you need a panel upgrade, we tell you upfront. No surprises.

Drop a 👍 if you had no idea your panel could be the bottleneck.

Before you buy an EV charger — check this first. 🔌
Most DFW homeowners buy the charger, then call us. And half the time, we have to deliver news they didn't want to hear: their panel can't handle it. A Level 2 charger pulls 30–50 amps continuously. That's a serious load. We check your panel *before* you spend a dime on equipment — because the panel is the job, not an afterthought.

Save this before you order that charger. 👆

We opened this panel on a job this week and had to take a moment. 😬
Not every panel is ready for a generator. Sometimes we show up to quote a generator install and the real conversation becomes the panel itself — breakers that have been tripped so many times they barely hold, wiring that belongs in a museum, and a box that's been "fixed" by about four different people over thirty years. We're not judging. Houses in DFW have stories. We just make sure the next chapter doesn't involve a fire.

"How big of a generator do I need?" — We get this question every single week. The answer might surprise you.
Here in North Texas, your air conditioner makes the decision — not your square footage. Most whole-home standby installs in DFW land in the 20–22kW range because of what it takes to run a central AC unit in 100-degree heat. Drop to a 10–14kW unit and you're covering essentials only — lights, fridge, a few outlets. Neither answer is wrong. It just depends on what you can't live without when the grid goes down. We do a real load assessment before we ever recommend a size.
