Some of our favourite brands are built on great friendships and is one of them.

Founded by Christa Botha and Carla Erasmus in Cape Town in 2014, Bofred grew from a shared love of travel, art, beautiful objects and the stories that connect them. What started as a creative partnership has evolved into one of South Africa’s most distinctive furniture and lighting studios, with each collection reflecting their journey as friends and designers.

As a female-founded business ourselves, we’re always inspired by women building meaningful brands and that’s one of the many reasons we love working with Christa and Carla. Their approach feels refreshingly thoughtful. Every piece is proudly made in South Africa, supporting skilled local makers and artisans, while drawing inspiration from places, memories, and experiences gathered along the way.

We’re especially drawn to their use of natural materials, wood, clay, stone. Their designs have a real sense of time and place, with unusual details that make them feel collected rather than manufactured.

Take a quick moment to spot Nokwakha in the first image, down in the bottom left corner. That gives you a sense of the scale of this insanely large carpet, and we are LOVING it.

This custom rug was woven for our client Maria and will soon be installed in Mamaroneck, New York. Inspired by the patchwork fields and landscapes of South Africa, the design captures an aerial view of the land, translating familiar contours and textures into a beautifully woven piece.

We can’t wait to see it installed.

This beautiful bedroom is a great example. We’re completely drawn to the organic textures and warmth she’s created here. At the heart of the space is a natural wool rug by , bringing depth and a sense of calm that anchors the entire room.

A new private dining and bar space brought to life through subtle lines, flowing curves, and warm natural textures. Our Dome Pendants by fit beautifully into the space, adding a soft sculptural element to the overall design.
