Lightning bugs or fireflies?

I grew up calling them lightning bugs.

When I first received the Cat's Eye glow-in-the-dark paint several years ago, I dipped the ends of 3 elongated pebbles, thinking I'd make lightning bugs. But low-thyroid-me could not figure out how to paint them. So these 3 pebbles have been sadly laying around, unfinished.

Happy to report that normal-thyroid-me had some ideas this July.

Satisfactory glow level after 6 hrs under my LED Ottlight.
Learned a LOT with the 3 types of glow mediums.
1. Premixed paint needed to be thinned out with medium or it clumped and had ridges. 50/50 mix.
2. Glitter/Glow powder was easy to mix with medium and went on effortlessly.
3. Glow powder in plastic bags is messy!! Putting it in glass vials is messy! Powder everywhere! Lol.
The 6 on the right are premixed, the 3 upper right are Glitter/Glow powder, and the 3 lower right are glow powder.

Not all glow-in-the-dark powders are equal. This one includes glitter!

I'm gonna credit my cousin for today's Amazon delivery. Because once the idea of black pearls was in my head it was inevitable, lol. Amazon, cheaper than Hobby Lobby or Michaels, and more color choices!

More ladybug pebbles.

Goth mermaid ladybugs.

UV reactive (black light) firefly bugs. I had to have both blacklight and dim light to paint the glowing parts, to make sure that the blending and coverage of the Liquid Light paint was good. Going to do more of these!

Standard dots ladybugs, because ladybugs. :)

Soooo many pebbles to seal, lol.
