Sometimes I think I collect everything haha!!

But my most recent obsession has been collecting vintage magazines, newspapers, catalogues & postcards. I’ve been looking for primary sources for my research into the 19th and 20th centuries, and I’ve found that it’s those “throw away” items that really give you a glimpse at what people were actually talking and thinking about. Try as it may, a history book can’t give you this closeness of the past, you know? That FEELING of being there. And that’s what I’m after!

The Ellora Caves!

Have you ever heard of these?? They're in India and they're FANTASTIC. I couldn't believe the skill and artistry of these incredible not-actually-caves when I first saw pictures of them. They're extremely old, and took hundreds of years to complete. And of course they're wrapped in mystery...just how were they chiseled out of the rock with such precision? Exactly who created them? And why? As usual we don't have all the answers, but we love exploring the possibilities!! Come join us as we head off to India! (Link in bio or in today’s story!)

Adventures are daily.

So make sure you’re prepared to toss your essentials in a trusty bag and head out the door! Our “Current History” drawstring bag is large enough to hold a light jacket, a journal, and several books. Like I said—essentials.

Is it raining where you are? What's your weather like? ⁠

It's been sprinkling, drizzling, pouring and thundering where I am! I know a lot of people don't like January, and I get it. I used to not care for it much either. But then something changed a few years ago and it became one of my favorite months. I think it has to do with the start of something new--an entire year with nothing in it yet. And I get to choose what goes where.☺️⁠

Plus I love the deep blues and greens the month conjures up in my imagination. And rain is THE BEST for writing. Especially if you're writing a scene with rain *in* it. And as we all know, some of the best scenes have rain in them.⁠
