A few weeks before Christmas I received a message from a woman wondering if I still make necktie purses. She had the most wonderful collection of her husband's ties and wanted to memorialize him (he had passed away not too long ago). I was able to get these purses made and shipped in time for her to give them to her daughters and granddaughter for Christmas. The tearful voicemail I she left me when she received the package was priceless. I will keep it and replay it whenever I need my spirits lifted. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to provide this service and make such keepsakes!

I made these two purses for a knitting buddy of mine. The ties belonged to her husband, who passed away a few months ago. I always feel honored to work with ties that have special meaning to someone. And I put extra pressure on myself to make sure that I name the purses appropriately. I never met Dan, but he sounds like an amazing guy (and he would have had to be pretty darn amazing to deserve a life with Sally). He was a radio host, president of the board of the Cape Cod Symphony for several years, and enjoyed sailing with his wife - to name just a few things I have learned about Dan. Ultimately, I was happy with the names of the purses. And the tears in Sally's eyes when she saw the purses (and learned their names) made all the effort worthwhile. I only wish I could see the reactions of the recipients of the purses when they open their presents - but I know Sally will tell me all about it.

Such a great time at Black Purls a few nights ago! Today I will be at the Corpus Christi Parish for their Christmas Bazaar from 9-2 (124 Quaker Meetinghouse Road Sandwich). Hope to see some Cape Cod friends!

Sorry for the last-minute-ness of this info - too busy to keep up with FB lately. For my friends on the Cape, I will be selling earrings and cards at The Black Purl yarn shop in Sandwich this afternoon from 2-6. Then I will be at the Corpus Christi Parish Church Holiday Bazaar in East Sandwich on 11/21. Hope to see some familiar faces (and lots of new ones also!)
