PERSPECTIVES FROM THE PORCH
As I sit here this morning with my cup of coffee, I'm reflecting on this past week/weekend. I'm at a point in life where all those things I used to think made me a "Super Mom", or at least a very capable one, is dying away. In it's place is wisdom and a new perspective.
The ability to show compassion even when I may have been struggling.
Anticipating my family's needs.
Figuring out every challenge that came my way with relative ease.
Being the one who held it together when others came to me for help.
These are just a few things we as women do on a daily basis. However, now I find all of this more challenging. Not because I don't care, but because I'm recognizing just how much of myself I have given away without taking care of myself. Without expressing what my needs are and where I need to be supported.
For those who are experiencing or have a loved one who is going through Perimenopause/Menopause. I see you. I'm right there with you. The physical and mental shifts are real.
For those who have yet to experience this change, learn to care for yourself. Your cup must be refilled if you want to continue caring for others.
For those who have already experienced this phase of life and are on the other side, you are much cherished for your experiences and wisdom.
From my porch to yours, have a beautiful fall Monday.
