Imagine this upon a Victorian breakfast table, filled with warm maple syrup or dark molasses beside a plate of freshly baked biscuits.

Dating most likely to the 1860s–1870s, this Early American Pattern Glass pitcher features deeply molded arched panels, a graceful applied-glass handle and its original-style hinged metal syrup lid.

The time-softened metalwork shows its age, but the glass retains the beautiful clarity and pattern that made early pressed tableware so desirable. We have conservatively described it as an Oval Rib or Arched Panel type, with its exact maker still waiting to be discovered.

Another one has found its way to The Gilded Stag—and she is every bit as lovely as the first. 🌹✨

This antique Unger & Schilde German porcelain display plate features that same irresistible combination of saturated raspberry pink, softly faded ivory, oversized cabbage roses, and a beautifully scalloped rim touched with old gold.

At approximately 12 1/8 inches across, it has wonderful presence whether displayed alone or paired with its matching companion.

I especially love the idea of using the two together.

Flank a mantel with them.
Hang them side by side over a buffet.
Use them to frame a mirror or botanical print.
Or display each in a different room to carry the same romantic color story throughout the home.

The roses are lush without feeling overly formal, making this piece wonderfully suited to grandmillennial, English country, traditional Southern, Victorian, or collected eclectic interiors.

There is something special about finding two antique pieces that have managed to remain together in spirit, even after all these years.

A little beauty from the age of the grand dressing table. ✨

This antique R.S. Germany Reinhold Schlegelmilch porcelain hatpin holder stands approximately 5 1/8" tall and rests within its own graceful scalloped tray.

Soft pink roses. Lavender accents. Delicate foliage. Gilt edges catching the light.

And at the top, the pierced porcelain openings that once held a lady’s long decorative hatpins.

I love pieces like this because they tell us something about the rituals of another time. Hatpins were not merely practical—they could be beautiful accessories in their own right, and the finest dressing tables had equally lovely holders waiting for them.

Today, this one could return to its original purpose with a collection of antique hatpins, join an old-world vanity filled with perfume bottles and powder jars, or simply sit beautifully on a dresser as a piece of decorative German porcelain.

A small antique with an awfully pretty story to tell.
