Greeting friends!
For the last three years, Haven has hosted artists from near and far with opening receptions in the shop featuring snacks and beverages. The first two years, we tried to break even on these events with suggested donations. We were generally unsuccessful so, to keep these events free and remove the suggested donation to Summer 2024 exhibitions, we've reduced the amount of catering and beverage service to lower barriers for us. Each summer however, our biggest lift is bringing Bread & Puppet to St. Johnsbury for our final act and longest exhibition and, this year, we need your help.
As a non-profit, Bread & Puppet relies on donations and traveling acts to support their important work. Each year we've donated to the theater and to the volunteer curator and puppeteers that help make this event happen. This year, Peter Schumann, founder and director of Bread & Puppet, has agreed to join us for the night and give a Fiddle Sermon to close the evening. With a bigger production comes a heavier lift for the theater and an increasing appropriate donation.
We are asking your help to make this happen so we can continue to keep our events free to the public. It is work we enjoy doing and would love to continue. Our goal is to raise $2,000 to provide the theater and Peter with at least a $1,500 donation and an extra $500 to cover additional expenses that go into putting on this production.
