If you’re looking to start being more sustainable, use your products save and clean out the containers and then come in to your local refill store (like Evergreen Collective here in Saint Paul) and refill them. This will save you so much money. I also really love reusing containers that were designed for their specific purpose like shampoo, conditioner, dish soap. It is less aesthetic than buying the pretty glass jars that we sell, but it’s gonna save you money and it’s also more sustainable.

If haven’t been to Evergreen (your local Saint Paul refillery and Eco shop) recently -> now is the time to stop in!

We are getting new goodies all the time including fair trade Conscious Step socks and new EcoLunchbox’s both perfect for back to school! We’re also sourcing an influx of vintage glassware and fair trade home goods perfect for cozying up once fall starts. And you definitely can’t forget the plastic free wax bread bag that we just got in, and check it out.

Oh and if you could do me one small favor, please like this post so more neighbors can find Evergreen!

What are we resisting? Honestly it feels like everything is a resistance and a revolution in the world today, and maybe that’s because it is, if we don’t like the way the world works it’s up to us to build a better one. We resist by building better systems and supporting others who are doing the same. Its take time, years, decades, but it all adds up.

How do you imagine building a better world?

So how’s business...
People want to know! And I get it; we’re always hoping that the small businesses we love stay open, so we check in. I never fully know how to answer, because owning a business has its ups and downs.

BUT I do think the more important question is, what have your dollars spent at Evergreen Collective done? And 6 months into 2026, here is our collective impact.

Community Funds Raised
Together, we have raised $7,352 through the sale of ICE OUT candles; all proceeds were sent to ILCM (candles available until supply runs out!)

YOU all have donated $1,096 to Hallie Q Brown through Evergreen’s Points with Purpose Program.

Plus, we have contributed discounted gift baskets to multiple silent auctions, including the National Scleroderma Foundation.

Your Plastic Savings
509 bottles of dish soap saved with liquid refills and solid bars swaps.

204 jugs of laundry detergent saved from the landfill.

1,109 bottles of shampoo and conditioner never needed to be made becuase you chose solid options or refilled existing containers.

And that’s just in the first 6 months of 2026! In a world that can make our individual actions feel insignificant, I hope these numbers remind you that our collective actions really matter.

And to answer the original question, with numbers like these and with all of our neighbors behind us, yeah, business is good!

Heya Neighbors,

We get pitched a lot of “eco-friendly” products at Evergreen, and the truth is, most of them don’t make the cut.

When we’re choosing what to bring into the shop, we’re looking for products that are genuinely useful, thoughtfully made, and aligned with the kind of sustainable home we believe in. Brands that feel accessible, grounded, and good for real life.

That’s what stood out to us about Meliora Cleaning Products

Their products are simple, effective, lower-waste, and transparent about what’s in them. It sounds basic, but it’s surprisingly hard to find in the cleaning world. We love that they make everyday essentials without extra plastic, unnecessary filler, and there’s definitely no greenwashing.

Here at Evergreen, we’re not trying to stock every “green” product or brand out there. But we do, thoughtfully bring in brands that make it easier to build lower-waste routines that actually stick.

Meliora is one of those brands, and we’re really glad to have them on our shelves. Plus, I love that they are made not so far away in Chicago and offer completely refillable goods. We’ve carried them from day #1, and have no plans to stop!

Cheers,

Taylor Hall
