These are just some of the pieces I pulled from the kiln yesterday. The hand built sushi platters and bowls turned out great. I love the new design for the self draining soap holders. Illinois ornaments have been added at the request of several New Harmony craft fair attendees. ( I also have Indiana shaped ornaments available.) Now it’s back to making more fused glass vases for the Christmas in New Harmony Craft Fair in 2 weeks on Dec 6th. I hope you can make it.

I had a disaster yesterday morning with my kiln. My relatively new relays, the parts that regulate the heating elements, didn’t want to turn off when they were supposed to. The temperature in the kiln just kept climbing and climbing. I ultimately had to pull the wall plug out of the socket just to get it to turn off. 4 cardinal, 2 cat, and 2 lavender vases all ended up over heating and turning into melted blobs of glass. (I think the cats look the funniest with their distorted faces). Fortunately, Georgie’s Ceramics in Portland had replacement relays, and I am now back in business trying to fire glazed pottery before we leave for Indiana this weekend. First world problems, eh?

I’m getting ready for Kunstfest 2025 in New Harmony, Indiana. It’s the weekend of September 20th and 21st. I will have a booth in the Ribeyre gymnasium. Come by and take a look at some of my new designs. I have a kiln full of pottery also with peacock design plates, hand thrown and altered mugs, Indiana ornaments and more. This year I am introducing soap dishes and mason jar ring flower vases. I’ll post pictures when they are done. I hope you can make it.

To my Indiana (midwest) friends, Kunstfest 2025 is coming in September. For the first time ever, my husband Tim will be in attendance. We are driving across the country from Oregon to participate in this monsterous art festival that has well over 200 vendors. I lured him with the promise of amazing midwest BBQ and sugary treats at the many street vendor food carts. I also promised him a delicious marshmellow shake at the famous Fire & Ice Ice Cream shop on Main St. Come and meet him at my booth, Emmerich Glass & Clay, in the air conditioned Ribeyre gymnasium Sept. 20-21st in New Harmony, Indiana.

Hello my Oregonian friends!! If you are heading to the coast over the next few days to beat this 100 degree heat in the valley, go ahead and stop by the Nostalgia Estates Sales Antique store in Newport to check out my booth. I just restocked it last week, during those crazy mid summer rainy days. There are plenty of fused glass wall vases and ornament cards along with dichroic necklaces and handmade mugs. Nostalgia Estate Sales is that huge antique mall off of HWY 101 in Newport, just below the Newport Candle Co and Big 5 shoe store. Please stop in and check it out.

I haven’t posted in a long time, because I have been busy installing ceramic tile in my kitchen and nail down bamboo flooring throughout the rest of my house. Now, Kunstfest 2025 in New Harmony, IN is fast approaching, and I have been hard at work making vases, ornament cards, mugs and other items for my booth in the Riberye Gym. The art, craft, and antique fair will be the weekend of September 20th and 21st. I hope to see you there!!!
