Yesterday, despite all the rain we went to the Zena Prairie Horse Show! The show was pushed from 9 am to 3 pm in the hopes that the rain would stop. It didn't! But all of us crazy horse people trailered our horses through the rain, showed up, waited for the rain to calm down a little, and went out to compete. This was Zena Prairie's first show they've put on so we're super glad we came! It was still pouring rain when we got there. Neo wasn't sure what we were up to... The rain had slowed down to more of a shower when the showmanship class started! It was over for the final class but everyone - people, horses, and saddles were soaking wet. Except for the in hand nothing above a walk was allowed. If anyone had trotted they would have been deducted points because of how slippery and muddy it was. The show was a very relaxed show being small and out in the prairie. Me and Neo placed 3rd in showmanship, 1st in the obstacle class, and 1st in ranch pleasure. We put up a fight for the novice buckle, tying with the same amount of overall points. The judges tried to break the tie with how many 10s we scored but we tied there, too! So finally it was the 9s that decided and the buckle went to the other girl competing (she had some very lovely runs - the buckle was well deserved!) We can say for sure it was a lot of fun even though we were pretty wet. I personally think my best class was the ranch pleasure! - Emily
