A beautiful finished home feels effortless, but getting there takes several distinct disciplines working together; each solving a different layer of the project.
•Architecture shapes the home: the layout, form, scale, circulation, openings and relationship to the site.
•Engineering determines how it can be safely and successfully built.
•Interior design takes the experience through the architecture further, developing the cabinetry, millwork, lighting, plumbing, materials, finishes and details that shape how each space functions and feels.
•Furnishings complete the experience through furniture, rugs, textiles, art and the pieces that make a space function to how you inhabit it.
They aren’t interchangeable, and one doesn’t simply replace the next.
You can absolutely build a home with architecture alone, but the decisions don’t stop when the architectural drawings are complete. Someone still has to make them.
The difference is whether those decisions happen intentionally, as part of one cohesive vision… or piece by piece along the way.
That finished space you see?
It’s the result of all those layers coming together.
