Ever run out of crackers or not have any when you want to make some chicken salad?

🥗Chicken salad has been a go to in my family for years heading to school (s), pre fame snacks, and for a quick meal on the go.

💭 Instead of crackers, ever thought of adding mini sweet bell peppers? Yes! 🙌🏾 Grab a bag of sweet mini bell peppers (I get mine from Chicho Boys Fruit Market and Jamie Gonzalez-Stevens Produce Lady markets, they’re usually $1.00-$1.50 a pack)

🔪 Cut the ends off and then cut them in half and they make the best sweet and refreshing stuffers for chicken salad or any type of salad, even tuna!

🚗If you’ve never been to Chicho Boys they are located at 1631 S. Laredo Street, SATX right across from River City Produce.

Yes, it is true! San Antonio just got its first Captain D’s. Everyone has their nostalgic quirks or go to quick meals when they have cravings. I grew up on Captain D’s on Fridays. If you’re from the south you know what time it is.

Their flaky po***ck fish with malt vinegar, fried okra, and corn cob was always it for me.

I went yesterday after class and it was definitely worth it for me.

After years of studying and learning from culinarians and chefs alike, I have prepared and curated my first plant based dessert successfully and yes it is vegan.

🍠It’s my Biscoff No Bake Sweet Potato Tart with Orange Zest Chantilly and Baker’s Dust Leaf Tuille👩🏽‍🍳

The plate garnish is chocolate hummus. Thank you to Cake Thieves Bakery 100% Vegan for restoring my inspiration and passsion for plant based desserts. I also appreciate @ Chef Stephanie Lane for being my mentor over the years on plant based foods and gastronomy. You are truly are the one who opened my eyes to the broader scope of change happening around our city and globally.

Above is the recipe for my blueberry coriander lemonade concentrate. 🫐

When you strain the pulp, DON’T THROW IT AWAY, just add some fresh lemon juice to it to mellow out the concentrated sweetness or more fruit and allow it to evaporate to a jam like consistency.

Blueberries 🫐 break down with their own natural pectin so no need to add any! 🙌🏾🌿

Could You Knock Out a Bulk Box? 👀🍅

When shopping City Produce it can be a little intimidating trying to figure out what to do with all of the produce if you don’t have a plan. You always have an option for Boys Fruit Market for smaller quantities.

Waste is what we want to prevent so what do we do? 🤷🏽‍♀️

🤔 Well, approach boxes like these XL Roma Tomatoes ($30.00 for 25 lbs, $27.00 with Military ID) in sections instead of as a whole case. The attached flier divides this box into 5 different recipes with 1 additional for Tomato Basil Soup. Romas are a nice form tomato with less water content for tomato sauce to salads and more.

Anndddd, you can be happy with the fact that you know what’s in it!!!
