Simply beautiful. Entry halls present challenges, so sometimes the old KISS theory of keeping it simple works best. Designer Timothy Whealon used a clean palate so the Miro lithographs take center stage, and the result is cool but never cold. Love this whole project featured in for fresh inspiration on wintry days.

A little peace on earth. This fills my heart with joy, because two years and two days ago, we lost Grayton’s litter mate Charlie, which made for a blue Christmas. We decided Grayton wasn’t meant to be an only child and brought Buddy home a couple months later, and they’ve been inseparable since. I write this as a message of encouragement, because having our furry companions leave us is heart wrenching, but joy often comes in the morning when a new pup takes a piece of your heart. Hope you cherish the joys of the season and all of God’s creatures great and small.

Spread the Light. The holiday season brings out special opportunities to host festive dinners at home. My tablescape recipe starts with mixing holiday decor with chinoiserie, then adding lots of candlelight. Use English crackers for place cards and fairies as gifts, and the table is ready for sharing a beautiful evening with favorite friends.

Best dressed. This banquette featured in martini bar at the Kips Bay Showhouse in Dallas takes center stage. Brush fringe trim from softens the edges and adds the perfect detail. Altogether it’s good as gold!

Pure joy. The delight of having my home fairy dusted by my two favorite talents and is beyond measure. Not to mention the laughter and fun rolled into having special time to catch up. Making Music. The third generation leader of Alamo Music Center, Adriana Flores, hits a high note as her Rotarian dad Al Flores (with mom Tenchita) officially welcomes her to the club. The family-run was founded in 1929 by Adriana’s immigrant grandfather, Alfredo Flores Sr, who escaped Mexico when his mother hid him between mattresses while fleeing the Mexican Revolution. Alamo Music is an example of how solid corporate values create sustainability through the ups and downs of economic cycles.
