Grief has a way of slowing everything down 🕯️…

This week, our family experienced a loss. As I sat with the weight of it, I was reminded that as followers of Christ, we don’t have to pretend we are okay. Scripture gives us permission to lament. To grieve honestly. To bring every tear before the Lord.

And somehow, in the mystery of His goodness, hope still remains.

Some weeks leave you feeling accomplished.

Some leave you completely aware of how much you need Jesus.

This week was the second one for me.

After a long week and an even longer Friday, I wasn’t looking for another productivity hack or another podcast. I just needed to sit with the One who said,

“Blessed are the poor in spirit… Blessed are those who mourn… Blessed are the meek… Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness…” — Matthew 5:2–12

The Beatitudes remind me that the Kingdom doesn’t belong to the people who have it all together.

It belongs to the people who know they don’t.

Tonight, that’s me.

So I’m lighting an Ever Be Candle, opening my Bible, and making room for the Holy Spirit to do what only He can do. Every candle we hand-pour is prayed over because we hope it becomes more than a beautiful fragrance—we pray it becomes an invitation to meet with God.
