Well… this one got me. 💗

I’m incredibly honored to receive the 2026 Ethel Siegelman Award from ASID San Diego, recognizing service to our chapter and to the advancement of interior design in our community.

I’ve spent a lot of years wearing a lot of hats: interior designer, business owner, professor, mentor, Chapter President, committee chair, volunteer, problem solver, occasional therapist 😜 and somehow they’ve all become different parts of the same career.

I love designing spaces. I love running my practice. But I also really love teaching the next generation of designers, opening doors when I can, sharing what I’ve learned (including the mistakes!), and staying involved in a design community that has given so much back to me.

So to be recognized for the collective body of all of that feels pretty damn special.

Thank you, ASIDSanDiego, for this honor, it’s not lost on me the importance of this award. And to all the clients, students, colleagues, friends, family and fellow designers who have been woven into my career along the way, I’m nowhere near done yet. 💕I cherish your friendships more than you’ll ever know.

Here’s to good design, good people, and whatever comes next. 🥂

Absolutely. I’d make it sound less like an “award announcement” and more like you reflecting on the slightly crazy, very full career you’ve built—practice, teaching, mentoring, ASID, and still genuinely loving design.

Here’s a version that feels spunky without getting goober-y:

After all these years, I’m still curious. Still learning. Still teaching. Still designing. Still getting ridiculously excited about a great material, a killer concept, or watching a student suddenly get it.

So to be recognized for the collective body of all of that feels pretty damn special.

When one of your professional idols walks into YOUR classroom… 🤯❤️

I’ve admired Kristine Smith of Kristine Smith Kristine Smith Design Studio for years, so having her join my Hospitality Design class as a guest lecturer at Design Institute of San Diego was a pretty incredible full-circle moment.

Standing alongside someone I’ve learned from and looked up to for over 2 decades now, mentoring the next generation of designers together, was not lost on me.

Definitely one of those “how did I get here?” career moments. ❤️ Thank you Kristine for your time today, you made my day!!

From dated and cluttered to modern, warm, and beautifully functional.

This primary bathroom remodel was all about reimagining the space while creating a more elevated, contemporary feel.

We said goodbye to the traditional white shaker cabinetry, oversized mirrors, dated lighting, and dark flooring and introduced a completely refreshed design featuring warm wood tones, floating vanities, sleek integrated storage, and beautiful new finishes throughout.

Swipe to see where we started and how this bathroom came to life! 🤍

Grateful and excited to share that Dillon will be heading to Archbishop Riordan in San Francisco ❤️

It’s an incredible opportunity for him to grow—not just on the court, but in the classroom and in his faith. Riordan’s strong college-prep academics, values-based environment, and high-level basketball program made this a really special fit for him.

Riordan is a Catholic school in the Marianist tradition, emphasizing:
• Faith
• Community
• Service
• Leadership

Riordan competes in the West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) — widely considered one of the most competitive high school leagues in the U.S.:
• 19 WCAL Championships
• 18 CCS Championships
• 4 NorCal titles
• State Championship (2002)

Recently recognized as a Northern California powerhouse / “state power” program.

This is legit high-level basketball: nationally respected competition and exposure. They are ranked #2 in the State in Open Division at the end of the 2026 season.

All this we share with you, our friends and family, who have supported us throughout the last 4 years. Especially my late mom Cindy D. Butcher, I wish so much she were here.

Big moment for our family ❤️

After years of early mornings, long drives, late nights, long weekends, and unwavering commitment, David and I couldn’t be more proud of Dillon for taking the next step in his basketball journey.

This one represents hard work, sacrifice, and belief—every step of the way. Teamwork! The best is yet to come. 🏀✨

We are giving him this moment to announce his high school commitment when he’s ready…but today we are celebrating. The joy is real, we are so damn proud❣️

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the Hospitality Design Summit at the iconic Hotel del Coronado and supporting the impactful work of Humble Design San Diego.

Moments like these are powerful reminders that leadership in design goes beyond aesthetics—it’s about using our creativity, influence, and community to create meaningful change. Organizations like Humble Design exemplify this by transforming empty spaces into homes for families emerging from homelessness, restoring dignity and hope through thoughtful design.

The day was also an opportunity to connect with inspiring leaders in the hospitality and design community whose ideas and work continue to shape the future of our industry. These conversations reinforce the importance of collaboration, mentorship, and pushing our field forward.

And sometimes the most meaningful moments are the unexpected ones—I ran into a dear friend I hadn’t seen in 13 years. What a joy to reconnect and reflect on how far life and our careers have come.

Grateful for a day filled with leadership, community, and purpose-driven design.
