❤️Where there’s shoes, there’s safety. If teens discover you post faces and videos of play and conversations, they will just stop coming over. They won’t tell you why or announce their exit. They will just move on to where they aren’t on display.

It may surprise you how much teens want to still be silly and playful and goofy…and they need to be. They simply can’t be if they are worried it’ll be shared to the masses. Make a protected space where they can do all of that!

How’d I handle photos? When I took photos of the group of kids at my house, I always said in front of everyone that I would text the photos to my son or daughter and they will send them out. That assures them that they aren’t content for you and they are safe to just be kids. Of course take photos for the memories, but don’t forget to be in the moment as well.

The thing I love most in life is being a mom. I’ve designed careers around being available for after school chats and a minivan full of cleats and sports schedules so complicated it should take five people to manage it. Yet somehow, moms seem to get it all done and man, I’ve had fun doing it.

So now it’s senior year for the oldest and we are heading out to make some memories. It is such a gift to hang out with my son. We kicked off senior year with a game where he got to get an autograph from Domingo German and watch crush 5️⃣0️⃣. It seemed like a moment of rare, pure Americana…a boy and his favorite team, favorite players and love for the game. A mom and her love for her boy. It was so rooted in who we are and what we believe, that I wanted to share it with you.

It sounds cliché, but I’ll never remember the things I’ve missed out on…the trips, the nights out, all the times I’ve said no…in order to stand next to my kids and watch them grow into the people they are meant to be.

Fact: Motherhood is the highest level math there is. It feels like➕➖➗✖️🟰 all day every day. No matter the ages of your kids (surprise there’s still Mom Math when they leave home), I bet you can relate to this! 💕
