Bathrooms are a big part of our lives. It's often where we start our morning and cleanse the rigors of the day away. That's why it's so important to make it a space that gives you what you need.

Incorporating fun tiles in your bathroom gives a high-end feel to a space. And when you use them the right way, they create a huge impact without a huge impact on your budget.

If you love an expensive tile but don't want to break the bank, consider using them on one wall or in a single band in the shower. It will draw the eye to those unique tiles and make you happy you have the space you wanted.

Paint is so much more than color.

Glossy finishes can be fantastic attention getters. Matte finishes can hide imperfections. And there are differences between oil-based and water-based paints you need to be aware of.

When you have a view like this, it seems hard to improve it. But by clearing out more space by the windows and making the fireplace an even stronger draw for the eye, you create more than a space, it's an experience. (Hearth by Silestone by Cosentino, and a Stiletto ZC door from glassfireplacedoors.com.)

We wrapped around the original fireplace ledge to minimize construction and retiled the façade with Ona Natural tiles from PORCELANOSA to elongate the fireplace and give a floating effect over the new rug.

🌅 It doesn't hurt that we caught the perfect moment in the gloaming to take the picture. 🌅

This bedroom renovation was an exercise in filling space. Previously, the low bed with matching nightstands-cum-dressers, were very much an image of the 80's. But on top of that, they looked small and displaced within so much space.

Not one to shrink from a challenge, we opted for a larger bed and loveseat from The Studio at DRC and we piled on the accent pillows. The headboard is a more than ample replacement for the large square painting. The wall space got even more décor in these Visual Comfort sconces, offering light and the illusion of more height to the whole space.

Last, but certainly not least, these Williams Sonoma Home nightstands serve the same practical purpose as their predecessors, but they feel more substantial and purposeful when not pressed up against the headboard.

I ask you, "What family living space DOESN'T need a Lucite swing with a Mongolian fur–covered seat?" 😉 Okay, quite a few, I know.

But what really struck me about this design was how closely designer Aimee Wertepny and architect Chris Talsma listened to their clients and how they went above and beyond to give them a space that was unique to them. What a great reminder for all designers!

Maxibillion (of course)…and the heart-shaped Love Wall on the patio of the Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park. You should check out all of the messages of love people have left behind. Max was impressed.

No matter how long it's been since your last renovation...⏱...📅...🏰 it only takes a single piece of furniture to inspire a more contemporary and comprehensive redesign.

This beautiful dresser from Tosti Design is just such a piece. Adding a sense of scale, and filling up more of the space, the dresser is finished off with a triptych and matching lamps from HomeGoods

Finally, we brought some color into the walls and voila, a new space is born.
