The Perish Trust is a modern day general store established in 2008 by photo art director, Rod Hipskind and commercial photographer, Kelly Ishikawa with a passion to diligently collect, craft and curate the best well worn homegoods and the most unique, local handywork. With a mix of the patinated old and the curious new we strive to cultivate and promote our mutual and authentic California Heritage

Pioneering retail in the Western Addition/NOPA district in San Francisco, The Perish Trust was at the forefront of whole new ideas in retail forging creative collaborations with Warby Parker Eyewear, Scribe Winery, The Ramen Shop, Meatpaper Magazine, Anthology Magazine, OPEN and Chez Panisse among others.

Letting the light in: part two

Inspiration strikes when we see the beautiful way sunlight bends around everything it touches. It’s warm offering of a hug. The flecks of light dancing through a tree. In this case, we seize the opportunity to highlight a new artist in the shop- Daniel Dooreck. In his ceramics we find ourselves giving into the playful splash of joy it invokes, and the warmth it embodies. Daniel is an LA based artist with a studio he lovingly calls, The Mud Shop. Part one. In times such as these, when the world feels a bit cold and dark, we look to the light. It’s ingrained in the fabric of The Perish Trust to slow down, take special care, and seek inspiration in the moments we’re given. We invite you in, exactly as you are, to share in the collective experience of letting the light in.

.thornton Collection of ‘California Coastal wonders’ is now showing at the shop through the end of August. Come take a look at these captivating original drawings Parker has created of our loving California coast.

Parker Thornton is a visual artist, adventurer and nomad from Austin,Texas. He draws his inspiration from life on the road and his time spent immersed in the small towns and wilderness of the US.

Parker creates art to reveal the sacred in the subtle - inviting us to look deeper, listen closer and remember our profound connection to Earth. His primary goal is to spark a deeper sense of awe for the natural world by creating highly detailed works that reflect the beautiful complexity of nature.

Our last featured broom artist no.27 is an artist, stylist, and designer based in Oakland, California.
In Peter’s most recent work, he has shed all ornament and function, focusing on pure form, with a series of table-top sculptures that feel minimal, contemporary, classic, organic, serious, and playful all at the same time. For the broom show, Peter created “Selections From the Hoard”, a collection of brooms he has been acquiring over the years from estate sales.
