Laszlo Ritter (Hungary, 1937–2003)
Three Beach Scenes, Probably Cornwall
Oil on canvas, 1970s/80s

Fishing boats drawn up on the shore under broad, moving skies, with small figures working at the water’s edge. Each canvas is signed ‘Ritter’ lower left and set in a gilt frame with a grey-washed liner.

Ritter left Hungary for England at seventeen, following the 1956 uprising. Self-taught, he studied the Old Masters and their methods, and from 1976 he painted full time from his studio in Cornwall until his death in 2003.

A carved giltwood wall mirror with a pagoda-form pediment above an openwork foliate frame, retaining an evenly rubbed water-gilded surface and later mirror plate.

Curtis Jeré 
“Windswept” Sculpture, 1987

Bundled brass rods, entwined in a continuous spiral and pivoting on a cylindrical base of gray marble. Three arcs open into fanned terminals worked with beaded brazing. Signed and dated.
Curtis Jeré was the joint pseudonym of Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels, who founded the firm in 1963. Their work was manufactured and marketed by Artisan House.

A pair of late-1950s lounge chairs attributed to Lubberts & Mulder for Tomlinson, with geometric wooden frames, curved bentwood crest rails continuing into serpentine arms, turned front legs and angled rear legs. Upholstered loose seat cushions and fitted backs.
