A little pattern, a little colour, and a lot of personality.

For Trinity, we wanted each bedroom to feel connected to the home’s overall story while still having a character of its own. These three rooms became an exercise in colour, pattern, and texture: layering plaid, florals, soft quilting, tactile throws, and richer accent tones to create spaces that feel collected rather than overly matched.

Think of it as a moodboard brought to life: deep blue, warm neutrals, soft blush, burgundy, and plenty of texture, each combination shifting the mood while keeping the same sense of warmth and ease.

Because sometimes the smallest layers like a patterned pillow, a beautifully textured headboard, and a touch of unexpected colour are what make a room feel personal.

Three rooms. Three moods. One Trinity story.

A living room designed around the art of gathering.

At the heart of the Martis Camp Jindal home, the living room is where warmth, architecture, and the landscape come together.

We kept the composition calm and considered, allowing the fireplace to anchor the room while the tall windows frame the surrounding trees and bring the outdoors in. Warm oak millwork and ribbed detailing add depth and rhythm to the walls, balanced by soft, generously upholstered seating that makes the room feel inviting rather than overly formal.

The open shelving was intentionally kept light and layered with collected objects, books, and organic forms, giving the room a sense of personality without competing with the view.

For us, the beauty is in that balance: a room that feels refined enough to be thoughtfully designed, but comfortable enough to simply settle into.

The art is going up, and Trinity is starting to feel like itself.

There’s something special about this part of a project: when the walls begin to tell their story.

From sweeping landscapes to sculptural woodwork and moody mountain-inspired pieces, each artwork brings another layer of personality into the home. We love how these pieces play against the warm oak, soft textiles, and deeper tones throughout Trinity, creating a space that feels collected, personal, and very much at home in Tahoe.

A few more pieces to hang, a few more details to settle in and this home is coming together beautifully.

I’ve always loved when a little bit of the unexpected finds its way into a room.

I don’t think a home should feel too perfectly resolved. The pieces I’m drawn to often have a point of view, something sculptural, a little playful, maybe even slightly surprising. That could be an incredible piece of art, an unusual vintage find, or a material combination you wouldn’t immediately put together.

For me, personality is what makes a space feel finished. Not everything has to behave.

Sometimes the piece that makes you pause is exactly the piece the room needed.

For me, it comes down to one thing: planning ahead.

Before anything gets built, I want to know how the space is actually going to live, where the furniture goes, how people move through the room, where the lighting lands, and how all those little details will work together.

Because a beautiful element on its own is great. But when the layout, furniture, lighting and architecture all work together? That’s when a space really starts to sing.

The best design decisions usually happen *before* construction begins. 😉

From brown to blue and a completely different mood.

For the Trinity Project, the transformation wasn’t about starting over. It was about rethinking the relationship between colour, texture and light.

Warm oak brings depth, cool blue adds a fresh point of view, and natural textures keep the palette feeling grounded and inviting. The result is a space that feels lighter, more layered, and distinctly its own.

Because sometimes, a home doesn’t need a total reinvention.

It just needs a new perspective.

Let’s retire a few design rules…

Everything doesn’t need to match. Luxury isn’t about covering every surface in expensive materials. Neutrals can have plenty of personality. And a Tahoe home? It doesn’t have to look like a log cabin.

At HSH, we’re more interested in the why behind a space than following a rulebook. The best interiors balance contrast, character, materiality and, most importantly, the people who live in them.

Because good design isn’t about following the rules.

It’s about knowing which ones are worth breaking.

A study in warm wood, quiet contrast, and everyday ease.

For this Martis Camp kitchen, we paired crisp, streamlined cabinetry with oak millwork and marble-look quartz to bring warmth and brightness into one of the hardest-working rooms in the home.

The linear wood ceiling, fluted oak cabinetry and sculptural pendants add just enough texture to keep the palette from feeling too pristine, creating a kitchen that feels polished, but still very much meant to be lived in.

Tahoe living, softened.
