Ultramarine Blue was the first pigment I ever bought and kicked off my research into handmade paint… now we just made a giant batch of Ultramarine Blue watercolor ink to bring with us to SFMOMA tomorrow πŸ’™ we’ll be in the white box studio from 5-8pm with a fun painting exercise inspired by the RM s SFMOMA show Between You and Me which I highly recommend checking outβ€”it’s up until February!

I got to go to the RM x SFMOMA opening Between You and Me and I’ve got to say I was pretty blown away! I loved this quote from RM β€” I think it encapsulates so much of what what we care about at CfM πŸ’™ πŸ’™ I highly recommend seeing the show while it’s up but if you’re nearby we’ll be SFMOMA on Thursday from 5-8 with a very fun painting prompt inspired by the show for all museum visitors to come and enjoy! We’ll be posting more about it this week as we prepare all the materials! And we have some really fun materials for this one!

The Hammer Show is tonight π˜›π˜©π˜¦ π˜—π˜¦π˜³π˜ͺ𝘴𝘩 π˜›π˜³π˜Άπ˜΄π˜΅ πŸ”¨πŸ”¨ here’s the hammer I cast in silicone to make the soap moldβ€”I’d never done it before and it was so fun to problem solve and think about for weeks making sure I got it right! I love that part of art making. The planning, trouble shooting, experimenting and seeing if it all pans out! I’ll be talking more about the process in a newsletter coming out soon! And if you’re in the Bay Area come on by to check out all the hammers! There will be over 50!

Our friends at The Perish Trust in San Francisco are hosting The Hammer Show β€” an exhibition of artists who were given a simple prompt: create something inspired by a hammer. They asked, β€œWhat does a hammer mean now? What can it make? What can it break? What does it say about the world we’re living in?” Alexis cast her version of a hammer in soap, there’s quite a long story as to why, which will go out in a newsletter next week!
