You can have our system, too! Look for “The Reset” at the link in my bio, it’s 50% off through Friday. 🥰
Here’s what we do:
First: we’re going to take 30 minutes to tackle our personal spaces - bedrooms bathrooms.
> Each space has a super specific cleaning list that breaks down every task in the order it needs doing so we can start cleaning without getting stuck wondering *how* to start
Second: we’ll take about 30 minutes to work on shared spaces: family room, living room, dining room, kitchen, hallways, etc.
> we won’t do these room-by-room but task-by-task. The four of us each get assigned a job quarterly:
• Dusting
• Vacuuming
• Mopping
• And a random bucket we call “The Other” in which the person does a handful of hodgepodge tasks that take about 20-30 minutes.
The duster (currently my task and the very worst one 😒) starts first and works along a route built for efficiency. The vacuum and mop people follow behind so so one is thwarting someone’s efforts.
“The Other” happens simultaneously.
This works for our ADHD family because
>> body doubling! No fomo here, we are all cleaning and all working
>> super specific cleaning lists keep us focused, our brains don’t have to THINK, our bodies just DO
>> we use “dopamine bridges” to help motivate. Hot cocoa first, then The Reset (what we call this home care system), then everyone will have free time until dinner.
>> everyone knows how they work best so we’ve provided the necessary tools — wireless headphones, Spotify playlists, a basket of cleaning tools for the task
