Happy Thursday!!!
Look at how fast our indoor herb garden is growing! Some of them are being stubborn and are just starting to peek out. Considering most of the seeds had a 7-14 day germination, and a couple had a 7-21 day germination, I think we are ahead of the curve!! Today is day 8 on the mini greenhouses.
I honestly cannot remember what day we are on for the hydroponics. I'm thinking it's like week 3. We officially harvested our first basil from it last night. So excited!!!

Wow! What a day!
Started off with noticing our indoor herb seedlings already have a few sprouts! Whaaaa??

Moved on to Buddy getting fresh gas and not wanting to start. We decided he was too cold and worked on other things. Up first: move compost pile into compost bin. big thanks to the hubs for building the bin!
Farming problem #2 for today: mesquite beans in my compost bin and as it turns out.... I don't own a rake. I used a hoe. Her name is Chicago. Funny story why, but I can't share it here. 😅 got the compost bin all cleaned out and added the layer of boxes. Then old potting soil from the container garden this year. Ta-da. Farm girl problem #3: need a longer hose. Someone at Home Depot's kid is going to college thanks to us. Haha!
Headed over to check on Buddy. He's still being cantankerous. So Bug fixed the pole saw (thank you youtube!) And went to work on the mesquite branches while I entertained little man. Timerfy works on Buddy to no avail. So I give up and call the seester. We had already tried everything she suggested so we break for lunch and wait for Chuck to call. He calls, Tim follows directions and vwallah! Buddy starts.
I finish up tilling the orchard while Bug puts little man down for a nap.
Bug takes a turn tilling up where the garden will be (gotta get that garlic in the ground!) And Buddy dies. Again. Dead battery. Ugh. No worries...... let's move on while the gentlemen folk fix it.
Then we map out the orchard on land to match what we already had on paper. You can't see the sticks very well in the pic but that's where all our trees will be ...... eventually. And finally....... SUCCESS!! WE HAVE THREE TREES IN THE GROUND! introducing: Bruce, Rosa, and Granny!

Also, my father-in-law finally had an excuse to buy a wood chipper and started working on our pile of sticks....aka snake heaven. So grateful he is letting it get tested out on the farm!

Yes, everything on the farm will have its own name. Know why? Because I don't just talk to my plants but I talk to inanimate objects too.

We need a name for the compost bin....... any suggestions?!?!

Farm log, Friday, October 13, 2023:

WELLL...... First, little man had to give me the run down of how to work it. Then, the Bug got her turn. I missed pics of Bug's turn. I have been fired from photography. Sad face. Now it's finally my turn! Now Timerfy has to give me a run down of how to work it...... then look at me go! I can't explain how proud I am that Daddy's tractor is tilling up our land. Btw.... tractors name is Buddy. (Drop a comment if you know why?!?!)

So we didn't quite get it all tilled up before we almost ran out of gas and stopped for the night, but that's okay. Tomorrow is another day!

Wild N Unruly has such exciting news to share. Today, we FINALLY broke ground on our farm. We bought this house 8 years ago with a dream to plant an orchard. Life happened, as it always does, and it kept being put off. But today, 10/11/23, we officially started building our dream. We are sharing the before pictures so you can join us on our journey! Yes, this yard is a mess! But we are working on it.... starting today. We have been planning this in our heads for years now. Today we started with tearing out the two dead trees. Tomorrow, we will till up the entire yard and then plant our first three fruit trees! We also decided to start our indoor herb garden since the trees coming down went way more quickly than we thought. Let me tell you.... this Lolli and Momma made tracks during little man's nap time. Even we were surprised at how fast it went!
The other 15 trees (yes, 15!!!) will arrive in November and go in the ground. Then we will start our outdoor garden seeds in late winter, and plant the garden in the spring.

Please ignore the bathroom remodel.mess behind us in the indoor pictures...... yes. I said bathroom remodel. Like I said, life happens. This year I finally said NO MORE EXCUSES! Then we ordered the trees. I knew if I ordered them, we would have no choice but to get busy and get going!

We can't wait to share this journey with you!
