Sewing the Dream

Sewing the Dream Sewing cute and fashionable accessories for all. All proceeds are donated to children’s charities. Aloha and E komo mei (welcome) to my site.

I am a freshman in Highschool and I started this project of 'Sewing the Dream' while living in Hawai’i when I was 10 years old. We saw a lot of homeless families and children in Hawai'i and I wanted to do something good and also combine my new love of sewing. That's when 'Sewing The Dream' came to life. I now sew colorful and fun accessories as well as useful household gadgets. My goal was to dona

te my projects to keiki (children) in need. We have since moved to California, but I would like to continue to spread Aloha and hopefully brighten someone's day. For my logo I choose the shaka (which I drew myself), which stands for Hello, Love, and the Aloha spirit. How can you get involved in supporting my charity? It's easy and fun: Buy something from me at the markets I attend. All profits will be used to purchase cloth or notions needed to complete our donations (for instance we sew toiletry pouches and fill them with fun and useful products like creams, chapsticks, nailpolish, brushes, etc.). Profits will also be used to purchase books, which we will donate together with our bookmarks or reading pillows. The books are bought at a local library book sale (in turn benefiting the library as well). We sometimes also donate money to the charities. I hope that you can find something you love for yourself, your family and friends. Mahalo for supporting my charity!

A huge Mahalo to everyone who came out to the market to support the local artists. And an extra big thank you to those who stopped to chat and learn about what we do and those who bought an item or donated money. We are happy to say we have enough profit for the reading pillows for ‘s summer camp and are able to include books for the keiki as well. We couldn’t do this without your support!!

Another upcycled idea! Turn those unused tshirts into tote bags. The straps are made out off the participation medals. This item is not for sale, just a fun present for the amazing and supportive coaches.

Our next market is this Saturday! Come out for all the great vendors who are offering some amazing, actual handmade items.
We are bringing our pencil roses and a bunch of new items and customer favorites… remember: it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday. This month’s sales are once again being donated to our favorite as we will be sending reading pillows again for their summer camp.

We try to reduce, reuse, or upcycle whenever we can. One of the reasons why we don’t offer a bag, a tag, or wrapping for your purchases.
We found a new way to upcycle…. Introducing our new shopping bag from a feed bag. Big, sturdy, and waterproof, just right for your beach toys, farmers market trips or to carry your puppy supplies.
We will be donating all profits from any dog themed items to the Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue.

We do not use price tags on most of our items, we do not supply bags for purchases and we use compostable shipping evnvelopes. We love using scraps and upcycled fabrics from clothing or sheets whenever we can. Therefore these reusable ‘swiffer’ dusters are the perfect new item. Made from scraps and upcycled clothing they are reusable and washable and might we say cuter than the yellow swiffer brand dusters!?!?
