Watch Ya' Self looks at the most current generation of OMEGA Watches Moonwatch. Speedmaster Professional is one of the most recognizable chronographs ever made, but the latest generation adds a major modern upgrade: METAS Master Chronometer certification.

This current-generation Speedmaster features:

- Omega Calibre 3861
- Manual-wind chronograph movement
- METAS Master Chronometer certification
- Accuracy rated from 0 to +5 seconds per day
- Accuracy maintained throughout the full power reserve
- Complete-watch testing, not just movement testing
- Pressure testing beyond the stated water-resistance rating
- Modern performance built into the classic Speedmaster design

METAS certification tests the finished watch for accuracy, magnetic resistance, power reserve and water resistance, making the modern Speedmaster much more than a continuation of the Moonwatch aesthetic.

For August’s Staff Picks, we’re celebrating Native American art in honor of Santa Fe Indian Market. From Pueblo pottery and katsina figures to turquoise jewelry, co**ha belts, Native weavings, and contemporary works, each staff member chose a piece that stood out to them.

Indian Market may come once a year, but Native art is part of Stephen’s year-round. ❤️

Santa Fe didn’t become the City Different in isolation.
The railroad helped connect the city to travelers, artists, collectors, archaeologists, and new ideas from across the country, helping shape the cultural destination we know today.
A recent ride with Sky Railway | Santa Fe’s Adventure Train was a reminder that some of that history is still moving through the same New Mexico landscape that has drawn people here for generations.
At Stephen’s, we see the legacy of that exchange every day in the art, objects, and collections that continue to tell Santa Fe’s story.

Throwback Thursday to the early days of Stephen’s.

Stephen Etre and Nick McKinney, shortly after taking over the Santa Fe consignment shop that would eventually become Stephen’s.

Things have changed since then (note Stephen's jet black hair), but this line feels surprisingly current: “Our inventory changes daily.”

Decades later, the idea is still much the same: art, antiques, furniture and unexpected finds, all under one roof. And as the article put it, “You never know what you might find!”

Zuni fe**sh carvings can carry different associations depending on the animal, and this collection has an incredible range of forms, materials, and personalities.
Swipe through a few of the meanings represented in tomorrow’s sale.

The bear is one of the traditional directional protectors, associated with the West and especially with strength.

Mountain lions are traditionally associated with hunting and protection and are recognized as guardians of the North.

These animals entered Zuni carving traditions through different histories. Bison are closely connected to sustenance and abundance, while horses became associated with movement and power.

Bird meanings depend heavily on the species. The eagle in particular holds an important place in Pueblo traditions and is associated with the sky; Pueblo sources also describe the eagle as a messenger.

In Zuni tradition, frogs are closely associated with water and rain, making them symbols of renewal, fertility, and life-giving abundance.

Human and ceremonial figures can represent people, cultural roles, stories and spiritual beings. Unlike animal fe**shes, their meaning depends heavily on the specific figure being depicted.

Come see the full Zuni fe**sh collection at tomorrow’s estate sale: The Folk Art Fiesta, with hundreds of carvings throughout the house.

A large collection of Zuni fe**shes turned up at this weekend’s estate sale, and one maker kept standing out.

As we started laying them out, Domenic noticed the distinctive work of Gibbs Othole, especially his use of coral and the way animals are incorporated into each carving. Othole’s work was recognized with a SWAIA blue ribbon in 2007.

See the collection at this weekend’s sale.

ndian Market may have wrapped up this past weekend, but the traditions it celebrates continue year-round.

From Diné silverwork and turquoise to Zuni inlay and Hopi silver overlay, each technique reflects a distinct history and an evolving body of knowledge. Together, they show that Native jewelry in the Southwest has never followed a single path or stood still.

Stephen’s is proud to share and support these works throughout the year in Santa Fe.
