How many ideas have you buried because you were afraid they weren't good enough? Why do we give the opinions of strangers the power to stop our creative process before it even starts?
Andy Warhol, the man who turned everyday grocery store items into high art, lived by a specific rule:
Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.
Warhol was a pioneer of the Pop Art movement who famously operated out of a silver-walled studio he called The Factory. He treated his creativity like an assembly line, often using silk-screening techniques to produce works in massive quantities. He realized that if you produce enough work, the individual failures don't matter because the sheer volume of your output creates its own gravity.
The key to longevity isn't perfection; it is momentum. While your critics are busy analyzing your last move, you should already be working on your next three.
