Janet Brooks Design We are a high end residential, and boutique commercial interior design studio, located at Pinnacle Peak and Pima Rd in North Scottsdale

Janet Brooks, ASID is the senior designer in this small, high-end interior design firm. We specialize in new build homes and large remodels. We prefer to work with a well qualified AIA architect on each project, and we present our interior elevations and floor plans in CAD drawings. We are with our clients each step of the way, from design inception, through construction and move-in. We take great care of our clients, and great pride in our work.

They don’t teach you this part in design school.

When a client has a very special collection, we find a way to make it part of the home.
Even when that means dressing The Fonz. 😎

There’s a quiet rhythm that runs through this home, from the warmth of the wood and the softness of the plaster to the blackened metal and patterned details.
I especially love how those details reveal themselves as you move through the spaces. The patterned stair risers, ironwork, lighting and cabinetry each have their own personality, but together they give the home a sense of continuity without making everything match.
It feels relaxed, layered, and meant to be lived in.

There’s something I love about allowing the history of a home to remain visible.
The original reclaimed timbers bring so much character to this space, and rather than compete with them, we kept the surrounding palette quiet and let the natural materials and a few special pieces speak for themselves. The sculptural wood bench tucked into the corner is one of my favorite moments. It feels almost like a piece of art, while still belonging beautifully with the rustic character of the original timbers.
The result feels collected, comfortable, and very much at home in the desert.

A good remodel doesn’t always mean starting over.

For this Silverleaf dining room, the architecture wasn’t the problem. The goal was to respect the home’s Mediterranean character while giving the space a fresher, more contemporary point of view.

We kept the beautiful, coffered ceiling and worked with the existing proportions, then introduced a lighter palette, a sculptural ring chandelier, tailored furnishings and artwork filled with color and personality.

Keep swiping to watch the transformation unfold, one layer at a time.

Sometimes the best remodels come from knowing what to change and what deserves to stay.

Choosing an interior designer is about much more than liking their portfolio.

Beautiful work may begin the conversation, but I would also look carefully at the experience and professional qualifications behind it. Designing a custom home requires technical knowledge, construction experience, organization, problem solving and the ability to collaborate with many different people.

My professional ASID membership reflects education, experience and examination, along with an ongoing commitment to continuing education and ethical standards. Those things matter, but they are only part of the decision.

The relationship matters too.

Does the designer listen? Do they ask thoughtful questions? Do they understand how you live? Can they explain the reasons behind their recommendations?

A custom-home project can span years and involve thousands of decisions. You should feel confident in both the expertise of the person guiding you and the relationship you will build along the way.

This space has us looking forward to cooler Arizona evenings.

This patio was designed for the way our clients wanted to live and entertain. A generous dining area, comfortable seating and a fireplace create a true outdoor room, while the pool, spa and second fire feature invite everyone farther into the landscape.

I love the way the entire backyard changes as evening settles in. Warm, welcoming and ready for a long dinner with friends.

Good design doesn’t stop at the walls of a room.
I love when there’s a relationship between the architecture, the interiors, the art, and the landscape. In this home, we were able to think about all of those things together from how the owners’ art collection would be displayed to the way the living spaces open to the desert and the outdoor areas beyond.
Each space has its own personality, but it all belongs to the same home. That’s always the goal.

I’ve always believed you understand a home differently when you’re standing in it, even when it’s still mostly dirt, concrete and a very large hole in the mountain.

Site visits give me the opportunity to walk the spaces, study the views and scale, and talk through decisions with the team while there is still time to make them.

There’s an extraordinary amount happening long before we get to the finishes, and I love being part of it from the beginning.
