How did I get here?

I was about nine years old when I was given a gift from my Uncle Jack. It was one of the most defining moments for me and my future. It wasn’t just a gift, and it wasn’t just to tide my interests over. Somehow, he just knew to give me these points of interest in time and see what stuck. He gifted me a ride in a Cessna from a friend of his and had his friend tell me about his travels to far off places. He had me tear down a vintage motorcycle. Being that he was a driving ed teacher, he taught me how to ride a motorcycle, street legal and race dirt bikes; he even taught me how to drive, in a truck in fact. He had me work on a submarine game from start to finish on an old Apple IIc and, most annoyingly, he make me thumb through a dictionary every time I pronounced a word incorrectly.

Little did I know how these small influences from someone I didn’t know really well back then would help shape and define who I am now. That gift was a Radio Shack Radio kit similar to what is shown below.

This thing had the wonderment of today's Avengers, Transformers, and any action movies all wrapped in one, and you could power it up with a battery! At my young age this was a pretty amazing gift. I remember sitting down at the hobby table we had downstairs and going to town on this thing; the next moment I looked up it was dark outside and I was able to turn the dial and hear sound coming out. I was absolutely hooked. I could not believe what I just did! The sweet static my ears were hearing while tuning, developed into a passion of computers and home theater, sound and music that thrives in me today. Little did my Uncle Jack know he started me on a journey that has been 30 years in the making, running a successful business started here in Scottsdale in 2005.
