After Christmas, I like to fully re arrange the house. It makes it not so sad that Christmas is over and makes me look forward to the New Year with new intentions and goals.

This morning our family said goodbye to the most incredible and iconic our forever faithful and unconditional Beatrice. Losing her today was like losing a part of myself that will never be replaced. She got us through the death and the trauma of our five year old niece. She comforted our boys when they first came to us, scared, angry, unable to sleep. We would put her in Kyles room and she slept there with him night after night while he adjusted. She was such a part of our journey and almost like the thread of our story. She passed peacefully as I knew she would. She came to us sweet as ever and left us exactly the same way. I was lucky to hold her as she breathed her last breath. She was a healer and that moment she helped me accept that she needed to go and that we would be okay. Thank you our Bea. You gave to us till the very end. 💔❤️

Saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth. She was a pillar of strength. She showed so much power to be all that she knew she had to for her people. I will always respect her role and her tenacity for place. May she Rest In Peace. It is well deserved.

We are extremely saddened to hear the news that Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II has passed away today at Balmoral. As our columnist Sophie Dahl put it when looking back over the 70 years of the Queen’s reign earlier this year, “The Queen has been a steadfast backdrop to British life for as long as most of us can remember. She bore witness to 70 years of prime ministers, the Blitz, austerity, global change and a worldwide pandemic. In the face of the last, her words were heartfelt and reassuring – from one who had seen hard times yet knows the great world continues to spin: ‘We should take comfort that, while we may have more still to endure, better days will return.’”

House & Garden will be pausing our posting on social media and the website over the next few days as a mark of respect.
